BLUSHING!!!
I've had this for years and can definitely empathize. Off and on what has helped is building my self esteem. Even if it's buying some new clothes that make me feel good or cutting my hair. I wish I had a magic cure to offer you, but nothing has really made it go away. What has helped tremendously is the pandemic and wearing a mask. I still wear one when out. I work remote so work isn't an issue in that sense. And yes, you're right, it's definitely a symptom of social anxiety and worrying that people will think ill of us. You could try therapy. I did bring it up in a session but I wasn't seeing a great therapist back then and she wasn't overly helpful. I should really speak to someone new. In the mean time, you could also wear a little makeup to tone down the redness, that might alleviate some of your fears too. But utlimately, I don't think makeup is the solution.
I had social anxiety for years and realized I was also dealing with low-self-worth which is a contributor to social anxiety. There is a lot of good info on youtube about it and how to improve it for yourself. I particularly like the youtubes of Julia Kristina and Bernadette Logue and Bernadette Sewell. Learning to value yourself and validate yourself will help improve your social anxiety.
