Acute stress reaction

Hi,

My sibling was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. Adding to that I have to have a colonoscopy to be screened but am now having symptoms myself. I go this week for it but am struggling with anxiety right now. I can’t stop thinking about all the worst case scenarios and worrying about my sibling. My provider put me on both Xanax and Prozac. Any recommendations on othering coping mechanisms?

I have experience with both. Prozac is sort of a numbing anti depressant. You need to stay on it for a month or so to see if it works for you. Xanax is a fast acting benzo that will help you calm down within 30 mins. Xanax is short acting and can last about 4-6 hours. Prozac is more long term medication. Let me know if you have any questions about them.
