Hi, is there anyone else on here who is taking Duloxetiene? I’ve been on 30mg for months, and haven’t felt good, but about 2.5 weeks ago my doctor increased it to 60mg, but now I feel worse. Don’t know if I should cut down again to 30mg. I feel very shaky and I get this horrible sadness and overwhelming feeling. I’m tired all the time. I feel like I imagine someone with low sugar to feel. I have had all kinds of blood tests but all came back fine. I am going on holiday Monday and am dreading it. Feel so scared. Don’t know if it’s the tablet or just the way I am. What should I do? I don’t think the doctors know what to do anymore.

Hello. My 18 daughter began Duloxetine 5 years ago. She takes 60mg as a split dose because all at once created the negative side effects you are experiencing. So she takes a 30mg capsule in the morning and then the second capsule in the evening. This has taken care of the problem for her. Maybe this would work for you too?

If that doesn’t work, then it’s probably not the right antidepressant for you since you said you didn’t feel good at 30mg either.

Another note - it is common for antidepressants to cause tiredness.

Everyone is different. Hang in there. It took us a full year before we found the right antidepressant for her.

As someone who is not able to tolerate any anti depresant I'm probably not the best person to answer. What I will say is that if the higher dose is making you worse go back to the doctor.

You may need to stand your ground and explain that this medication is causing you too many side effects which get worse with a higher dose.

It seems that a lot of doctors try resolve issues by just increasing the dose with out looking into your medical history or take your thoughts into consideration.

If you are not happy insist on an alternative but do your research first by Googling alternatives before asking so when they suggest a different med you can be armed with questions to ask concerning the new med.

It's your body so ask questions about any meds because most people take a doctors decision on blind faith. A good doctor will check your medical record and make the right decision where as a lot of doctors just assume a certain med will do.

Doctors are busy and because of that may not do all the checks that are needed.

Hope you get the resolution you need.

Thank you for your reply Malcolm. I will do that. Yes doctors are very busy and you can’t always see your own doctor and so they don’t really know you well and go by what you say rather than looking back at your records.

There are so many antidepressants out there. That one is not working good for you. You need to try something else. Lexapro or Zoloft.

Not what you're looking for?
