Anxiety symptoms bugging me again

Just don't know how to explain this, symptoms with anxiety are so strange sometimes as are triggers too. I was wondering if I should write about this as to not sound foolish. Those who suffer from anxiety usually have similiar symptoms and triggers, but one of my triggers seems to be turned on when my nose gets stuffy. Honestly. If I start having trouble breathing through my nose because of a cold, allergy, possible polyp, swollen turbinate, sinus infection, or whatever, I'll sometimes go into a bit of panic mode because of this. And strangely, my daughter also suffers with almost the same anxiety with this, I'm trying to calm myself down right now, it's almost 2:30 in the morning here right now here in PA. A week or so ago I wrote a similar post about this sort of thing and mentioned about walking up and down the steps to help with this, and even leaving the house for a bit if it's late at night to just go somewhere such as getting gas for the car, just to get my mind off the trigger. Sometimes I'll go outside and stand on the front porch just to get a bit of fresh air. But, sometimes these tactics just don't work as well as before. Sometimes I even have an oximeter on my finger while walking the steps just to see if I'm getting in enough air for oxygen level, I sort of go into the extremes with this.

gbn you are certainly not alone with this feeling. Whenever I have had a horrific

cold in the past, the fear was always over having a stuffy nose. No matter how

I would try to tell myself it was just one of the stages of a cold/flu, I would panic.

And when lying down, the stuffiness would get even worse and I would literally

go into severe anxiety.

It wasn't until I found that plain Robitussin helped in thinning the stuffiness

as well as inhaling steam over a hot bowl of water. The feeling in having at least

one of the nostrils open was a relief. I never did find out why I fear this so much.

I too have gone outside at times since the cold night air seemed to open the

sinuses up. Scary but true in how we all react to certain physical symptoms. :) xx

Agora1, thank you so much for your reply. It's only my left nostril that seems to give me trouble, but it's enough to spike the anxiety emotion in me, I try to make up for it by mouth breathing, but we all know too well that, that in itself, can cause anxiety problems also!! This seems to be a real tough trigger, makes me almost climb the walls.
