So I’ve been diagnosed with pots but for years and years I’ve suffered with ectopic beats. Lately though they are daily with a around 10-15 I can feel physically on a daily basis. They are so forceful though and off one il get an adrenaline rush that goes through my body and an overwhelming feeling of panic at the same time. I’ve been told 2 years ago that structurally my heart is fine but these are now ruining my life as I’m constantly waiting for the next one to happen. One is terrifying so I can’t deal with more. I worry something has changed but I can’t get to see my cardiologist until may

Thank you, I have read that book actually. I’ve ordered myself some magnesium but again I’ve tried this in the past and it hasn’t really helped but I will try again. I do have POTS so I know it could be that also but it’s just this time around they seem more frequent and more forceful and just one alone is enough to send me in a panic waiting them for the next one to come along. Feel like it’s never ending

Yes i know what you mean...i spent several years checking my pulse every few minutes...please consider the taurate version...magnesium taurate is found mainly in the heart muscle...without getting too scientific...the calcium ion channels “hog” those empty magnesium ion channels...and you end up with more contractibility it takes a little while to redress...this is why many on betablockers never actually get rid of ectopics...

Each person is different...because we assimilate minerals differently due to our age, weight etc....but persevere...there are at least 15 types of magnesium...and one will work out better for you all round...so try out a few to see which works more efficiently.

I was having 10 a minute for days...now i get one or two if i eat too much...really quick fix if ectopics are stomach related...half a teaspoon of sodium bicarb..gets the air up..takes the pressure off the vagus nerve...but strangely it also lowers blood calcium...to be used infrequently or you will push your bp up.!

Apologies for the long winded versions...but some one else may pick out helpful ideas too...i want everyone to get better.

I do seem to get them more after eating, I get them just moving around though too or even laying down. Il try the magnesium again though. Trapped wind makes them worse so I get the bicarbonate bit because sometimes it feels like I need a big burp (sorry). I have low BP so need something to bring mine up

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing this again. Not sure what you have tried but am happy to suggest “other” things.

Just wondered if you had any vaccines....and if so...how many?

I suggested Magnesium Taurate because that is often found in the heart muscle....often it will restore the balance between calcium and magnesium...unless you have poor gut microbiome...which impedes uptake of vital nutrients.

Also people on certain medications will upset the balance of electroylytes...i.e. ppi , diurectics, alpha blockers, beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, dehydration, over usage of one particular mineral thereby upsetting normal levels of other minerals.

Other antagonists are too much calcium in your diet....thyroid issues cause calcium issues....to remain high or low.Toomuch dairy, too many sweets, too much alcohol....

You really need to keep a diary of what you eat and drink and see if a pattern shows....

Most magnesiums should alleviate the extra beats...you can get three in one versions which address the imbalances...body genix (ebay) make such a version...magtein l-threonate,glycinate,taurate...but you need at least 350 mg each day...i make up 500mg in a cup of hot water and sip a little throughout the day...thereby keeping a steady flow...you can increase this to two or three times this amount in times of illness and stress...

Another thing you can try is D-ribose which is a signalling enzyme which does regulate normal heart rhythm...quite often this is enough.

Please do not despair...the ectopics are very worrying but not dangerous...you need to take stock of your diet, drinking, exercise, sleep, vagus nerve, stomach issues....most ectopics come from poor vagal tone, or excess gas from bloated stomachs.

Gas is really fermentation between sugar and yeast and low stomach acid....so cut down on sugar and yeast products...increase leafy greens, ginger, garlic, apple cider vinegar..and use sodium bicarbonate to lower calcium and expel trapped air that comes from swallowing during anxious moments,

Stick religiously to a routine and see if you can reduce these ectopics...if you can...perservere, try to walk at least thirty minutes a day...go easy no excessive excercise until you bring things under control..its all about finding a balance.

Best wishes.

Thankyou so much for this detailed reply. So much I want to say but they have cone and gone all different feelings of ectopics. Reason's ill never know. I am on thyroxine, had thyroid removed, in 2014, had 2 novavax does last week just went to hospital with horrific gas trapped pain , now started probiotic, and low iron( have thallesemia, all my life as I have heavy period also . Have had these all for so long and return, so unsure how to rid of them permanently.

To put things into the correct perspective...the term “missed” beats is not really what is going on in ectopics....what really happens in most cases is the previous beat to the thump...is too weak...so the brain realises the blood pressure has fallen...and instigates a quick more forcible beat to bring the bp back up....and then the next beat seems unduly long....its that gap that causes everyone checking their pulses...anxiety because they think their heart is about to stop...it won’t...its an all or nothing system...heart muscle fibres from animals will contract on their own for three days if left in a petri dish...they are designed that way....feed it the right nutrients and you should enable it to produce at least two billion beats or more. Each time you overly respond to one of these unsettling thumps...you produce extra adrenalin...the fear of having another thump becomes a vicious circle...learn to let them run they are not important...exercise usually abolishes them....which is why walking is the most beneficial help....your feet are your second heart...and each step you take helps the heart push blood back the legs...gives the heart time to restore those magnesium channels and level out the rhythm.

I understand you very well ... my journey with ectopic started after a viral illness in 1984!... I have discovered if I just walk a little everyday these lessen ... then I discovered magnesium... there are 12 types of magnesium ... one will be right for you... you must persevere because at first you will feel very out of sorts as the body “wakes” up due to dormant enzymes switching on... the magnesium may need vitamin D to help you absorb it... you may end up feeling very sleepy the first few days as your body begins to adjust... this is normal and is a good signExcess Calcium may be causing the ectopic so try not to consume too much dairy and see if this helps.

Try D-Ribose... this is a signalling molecule enzyme that helps improve electrical pulses along nerves especially the heart...

Look at Dr Carolyn Dean website to try the REMAG best pico formulae drcarolyndeanlive.com do not despair... this can be managed so you can begin to live a better life....
