I am currently on 50mg of metoprolol for heart palpitations. Been on it for almost 3 years. At the end of March my heart has been skipping beats all day long. Cardiologist wants me to increase the metoprolol to 75mg. Has this happened to anyone? Did you have side effects from the increase in medicine?

Metoprolol and heart palpitations

I’m In This Medication For High Blood Pressure.
I had atrial flutter 12 years ago. The EP put me on Metropolol and I had immediate ectopic beats that made me feel very uncomfortable.
I stopped it and went on magnesium 400mg twice a day. The ectopics faded away with heart to normal.
Now ... since then ... I've had a lot of nurses and other medical people tell me that's unusual with Metropolol, but I don't care what they say. I'm never going on it again. Magnesium worked 100 time better than that crap.
Good Luck!
I was on 50 mg of Metropolol for two years and then on 25 mg dose for one year. Then after a year at 25mg, my palpitations starting getting worse, but my cardiologist didn’t increase the dose back to 50mg and I’m not sure why. I think it might be because my heart rate and blood pressure are in the normal range. I feel like I would benefit from a slightly higher dose, but the medication goes up by increments of 25mg. What did you decide to do?
