My doctor put me on 50 mg of Metropolol Succinate three years ago, and after one year, it was reduced to 25mg. which worked very well for two years. All of a sudden, last April, my palpitations returned, but my doctor didn’t increase the medication back up to 50mg., I think because my heart rate is usually in the fifties or sixties. Has anybody else been in this situation? I feel like I need more than 25mg but less than 50mg.

Metropolol- finding the right dose for heart palpitations
MonarchsAB, that something in between 25-50 mg may just need fine tuningby your doctor. Taking it at the right time of the day or evening can have a significant
response in how it works for you..
Finding other methods in controlling your stress/anxiety can also help in allowing your
medication to work more efficiently. Meditation/Breathing??
I find this to be an excellent med for myself, but it did take some fine tuning. xx
What dose and time of day is working best for you? Thanks for your response.
Hi MonarchsAB, I have been on 25mg the whole time. When break throughs cameabout my cardiologist changed the time I took it from mornings to 9pm at night.
Worked perfectly for me. Haven't had a problem since.
But I do Meditate 3 x a day which helps keep my mind and body at ease.
Medication is all about trial and error. I hope you get the relief you are looking for. xx
I was on metropolol for years. My doctor switched me to bystolic for my palpitations. They have gone way down over the last 2 years. Talk to your doctor about a different bp.med.
