Best antidepressants for anxiety disorder. Any advice.

I think its just a "trail and error" basis, just to try them out and see what suits you better. That's what I did however, I still haven't found anything though my consultant did recommend a beta blocker so I will try them next time, but everyone reacts differently x

My partner has gone from strength to strength on fluoxetine/proactive I think it depends on the level of anxiety but he would hardly leave the house before!

I have taken Lexapro three times and have been able to taper down and off of it each time, when my life situation settled down. I recommend it as your first trial. On the other hand I was also put on Cymbalta in the beginning of my MS diagnosis. I was worse on it, after a year of use. I tapered down off it, but almost had a nervous breakdown in trying to come off it. Do not under any circumstances that you can get out of, take this drug. It is very difficult to come off of. I was told by a nurse that it was made to have the patient stay on it forever!

Lexapro worked best for me in terms of general and social anxiety. SSRIs in general tend to be the first line course of action, but a professional who can fully evaluate all your symptoms and make a proper diagnosis would be best.
