Hi everyone! It’s been a while mainly because I actually had my anxiety under control for a while! I got my full physical and everything came back good
The weird thing i’ve dealt with recently is weird fear over having a DVT? I have no risk factors minus being a little less active recently with a cold / flu virus. Yet, I have weird pain in my leg calf muscle with no swelling, redness, or warmth. Just bizarre!! anyone else felt this way?
I used to be scared of dvt all the time, I used to get a few symptoms and then full on panic fully thinking I’d got one, I had a leg scan a few times and a ct scan on another occasion, plus numerous doctors visits it drove me mad
If it persists, I might get it looked at! One of my friends mentioned a fear of DVT while flying, and the next day when I was thinking about it while laying on the couch I started to get cramping in my legs! since then, I’ve had my left leg be super crampy all day today but watching for typical signs of swelling and such that haven’t come yet. I think I’m manifesting it honestly! I’m also 20 years old and am in good health.
Aww, yes probably over thinking it, I was around 22/23 at the time when I thought so for the first time I was pregnant, but continued after that on many occasions. Keep an eye on it but try not to think about it too much x
Perhaps aske your doctor for a d-dimer blood test. It will say that there is a possibility of a blood clot in the body. But it is not 100 %. If you are over a certain age (usually 50) it will give false positives.
If it persists, then I’ll likely go to my doctor! this is the second day with it, but it seems to improve with massage and also stretching. I’m prone to muscle tension and bad anxiety and have gotten myself worked up! I’m not prone to clotting as no family history and I’m 20 years old with full work up only a few weeks ago and she said everything was fine! If it starts to swell or change colors I’ll go!
yeah! especially because I don’t any associated swelling, redness, or warmth. I saw from your past post that you’ve had one and had more than just some minor pains. mine definitely aren’t excruciating, just annoying. plus I’m coming off of a cold with body aches and also my period should be starting soon on top of anxiety which makes the body do weird things. I am likely obsessing and projecting. need to breathe!
Breathing is good. Yes I have had one. even now if my muscles in my legs bother me I have to think that it is muscles. I also have fibromyalgia with extreme muscle aches. But as I stated earlier ask the doctor for a d-dimer if you really want to put your mind at ease.
Hello! Just wanted to make a quick comment on this. The d-dimer is around 97% accurate and studies have shown it’s not as accurate in people who are on specific anticoagulants. I was curious about this so I asked a doctor I work with and that was his response. I may ask about the age related thing though. That’s a new piece of info for me!
Oh ya. When patients come in specifically to rule out a DVT and they have symptoms, they’ll skip the d-dimer. I’ve only ever had one doctor do and-dimer for very clear symptoms of a blood clot. It was elevated of course.
That makes sense because I called my nurse hotline and she sent me directly to the urgent care for a scan instead of wasting time with a blood test. More expensive but probably more effective too. Luckily, my leg pain is lessening but still kinda nerve wracking because it's everywhere like my thigh and calf and behind the knee with a little of lil tender spots that are probably just my muscle being tense and wilding out but at least it's not a clot right lol (ofc anxiety makes me believe they missed)
Hi Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, Do you still suffer from this? I've been getting random leg pains which feel as though they are in my inside leg, groin and hamstrings. My legs aren't warm or swollen or changing colour, they feel a little cold but OMG my anxiety just makes you think the worst. The doctor says its probably just a pulled muscle but it comes and goes. Some days it can stay for a couple hours then goes, others it can last half / all day and the next day I'm fine.
Hey! No big deal. I do, actually. I have it in my calf in various spots, down to my foot, behind the knee, thigh (inner and back) and sometimes into my groin and hip. I also feel a little cold! There's some theories so far. Firstly, my poditarist told me I overpronate that foot which could be impacting my structure and therefore my muscles. Secondly, ultrasound in Oct. said no clot and d-dimer last week said no clot but I think my doctor is going to send me to a vascular specialist soon to see if it's anything like that. Thirdly, my mom and podiatrist think it could be neuropathetic i.e. a variation of sciatica or pirformas syndrome. Like you, I've been thinking the worst and probably will until there's a name for it and it's showing improvement. I've done a lot of things from stretching, massaging, icing, resting, etc., to no improvement but it does have its bad and good days. Feel free to private message me if you would like to talk in even more specifics.
Hi. I am also going through this, for about a week and a half now. I went to my primary care physician today and she basically told me nothing is wrong but she'd order an ultrasound just in case. That won't be for a few more days and I'm struggling with a lot of anxiety and just wanting to get it done sooner, especially because I've had a lot of pain and discomfort all through my leg but especially behind my knee today. I'm debating if I should just go to the ER and just get all the tests as this would ease my mind. I'm just worried they'll say it's all anxiety.
legs can do really strange things!! but i agree with you that the anxiety around it is weird especially because there’s no certainty regarding what’s going on
I decided to go to the ER the other night and all the tests were negative. Ultrasound was negative too, however I am still worried, and still have pain in my calf. Any tips? They didn't do any CT scans or anything and I think I'm wishing they would've.
i wish i had something for you! mine is still tender and irritating to this day and it’s about 4 months after the fact. i’ve just recently tried foam rolling to see if that would be helpful in the long run but i’m only on day one. how are you doing?
hi, sorry to comment to a really old thread and I doubt you’ll see this, but…. I’ve been suffering with calf pain (pain also radiates to my feet and up into the calf) for about a week and I am really worried about DVT! Doctor doesn’t seem to think it is and I had a D-Dimer that came back all clear. But I’m still worried about it as potentially there could be something they haven’t seen!
