Keep getting blood shot eyes

I keep getting blood shot eyes on and off which keeps freaking me out and I think it’s just hay fever allergy causing it. Since I’ve never had it this frequent for the past few weeks it does scare me it’s something else which makes my anxiety through the roof. It isn’t causing me any pain or discomfort just confusing why it keeps happening.

Kelly... Stress causes alergies to amplify it is proven fact look up "Google" allergies from stress and it will tell you stress breaks down the immune system. Take some alergy medicine or an anti inflammatory like Ibuprofen. It will get better changing of the seasons. Good luck and gentle hugs!!

Some eye conditions may be related to a side effect from medication. Blepharitis can make your eyes a bit pink and sore, - but there may be other causes so you should go to your doctor or your optician.

After courses of eye drops which did not help, I went to a specialist and was diagnosed with a severe allergy, and had special drops which were used for patients after eye operations.

Hay fever can affect your eyes as you say so your pharmacist might recommend an antihistamine to help the inflammation. I take antihistamine every day for rhinitis, but still have to avoid perfumes, floor cleaners, soaps, cosmetics which can make my eyes sore. Using Johnson's baby shampoo mixed with some water do it is a mild solution, and bathing your eyelids, may help. I had treatment for the mites which come out to play at night, and irritate the eyelids, burrowing under the lashes. It really helped.

If you can find the name of your drug and then log into drugs.com it will tell you any side effects of your medication and any foods which you should avoid.

Hi, I just wanted to stop in and second the suggestion that it’s probably allergies. Where I live it’s been a horrible year and I got symptoms I’ve never had before, bruising around the eyes! Talk about scary! But the fact that it’s happened over the past few weeks when tree and grass pollen are really coming out is probably a good clue.

I think the key to living with health anxiety is to always try to remember that the easiest and most benign thing is the cause if our symptoms, not the worst thing we fear.

Best wishes!

Thanks I think it must be allergies, just never had them that bad where I get blood shot eyes. Usually itchy but never bloodshot so my mind did over think as usual but I think it’s nothing if it keeps up might get checked out and see if I can find what allergy is causing it.

Yeah a visit to an allergist is always a good idea if you can afford it. My allergies have been miserable this year. I freaked when I saw bruises around my eyes.

Maybe see if allergy eye drops help and stay hydrated. Not enough fluid can also make red eyes worse.
