I’ve had anxiety for over a year now. I was put on buspirone and worked well but not great. I tried Zoloft and about drove me nuts. I just started cymbalta, not sure I feel anything. Still been stressed.
I did start councelling. Anxiety is a horrible thing and just wish it would stop.
Zoloft did suppress my panic but the side affects freaked me out. I feel dreamlike, weird, out of it, forgetful, like my thoughts are suppressed, and tons of other odd things. It sucks.
Anxiety SUCKS. I’m here for you!! I’ve made so many friends on this thing. Support!

Thank you so much! I did too try Zoloft for almost 2 months and had to stop- ruining my life, just didn’t work for me.
My old doctor prescribed buspirone and Xanax and worked pretty good, but new doctor doesn’t like Xanax.
Takes forever to get into a therapist who can prescribe anything so I have to wait.
I start a new job in a week and pretty freaked out!

You’re so welcome!
Oh no!! What happened when you were on Zoloft? I’ll only be on it for 1 month total. I’m tapering off now.
I feel you. I hope your anxiety is ok until then. Might I suggest a betablocker? I heard they actual help for anxiety pretty well. Ask about it!
You’re going to be great. I know how scary it is but you’ll own it!!

Hi Unicornsrule,
Zoloft sent me straight into depression. Heart pounding nonstop, no sleep, more anxiety than I had before.
I did have 3 incredible days where I felt invincible- which I thought that was going to be it for me, but soon returned to misery.
Incredibly I was able to get off Zoloft pretty easy. Maybe a few days after almost 2 months. I’ve been on cymbalta for my 5th day and I don’t know if it’s working, I just know I’m not on Zoloft anymore which makes me feel better regardless.
Hope this helps 🙂
I do take propanol which is a beta blocker but it wears off fast.
Thank you again.

I just saw this! Sorry for the delay! You answered a lot of my questions from the other post here, haha!
I did GREAT on zoloft until my dose was bumped up to 50mg. I would wake up out of my sleep in a panic.
Finding the right medication is hard. But here is a technique I've learned in therapy.
It is called the 4 6
You breath in for 4 seconds. Take a long breath in, then breath out for 6 seconds.... as you do this loosen your body, and make sure you're counting.. do this 3 times and you should feel a difference. I've been working with it for a week. My anxiety is severe.... and honestly its been calming.
The way it works is your focusing on counting so your brain is doing that Instead of panicking, and tells your heart to slow down and stop being alarmed.....hope this helps. Best of luck to you. Anxiety SUCKS
Hi there I was on both of those as well. The Zoloft worked but I ended up going off for weigh gain i think not sure. Well i tried them again not long ago and said no to the first day I thought my aniexty was going to go through the roof. I just take oxyzepam when needed but get addicting so you have to watch. It’s been 18 years i have been dealing with this now. So far no addicting issues.
Thank you, I go in tomorrow to discuss with my new doctor. I’m done with Zoloft forever. Taking cymbalta but not sure if it’s working. All I know is I don’t feel horrible like I did on Zoloft.
Kinda miss the buspirone as it was quick to work and pretty quick to get yourself off of.
Just do t think this doctor is going to go for me asking about Xanax, but that was my emergency choice and worked wonders- as you mentioned- can be addicting, but I never was.
Hi Bry, thanks for sharing, YES, anxiety, any mental illness is torturous..I'm just the opposite and tried Cymbalta first, now trying Sertraline (Zoloft)...kind of wish I had given the Cymbalta more time, but I honestly believed it was affecting my BP (raising it), and leaving me feeling irritable/angry? I'm now on week 7 of the Sertraline, and not noticing a lot of improvement either? Been told and have read its to soon, and takes longer for some. I'm praying that this truly is the case...want to feel some kind of 'normalcy' once again....wishing you the best, please keep going, its gotta get better, right?..
