Sometimes i feel like its bad that I like horror movies. I feel like the fact that I do like the movies and some of the main villains makes me crazy or psycho....I know this probably sounds silly :/
Bad that I like scary movies?: Sometimes i... - Anxiety Support
Bad that I like scary movies?
Cool then try watching faces of death and see how much you can handle that gore. Good luck!
Horror stories are related to anxiety I think. They take fears that would normally be irrational and make them real. For example, when you're watching a horror film and waiting for the jump scare you know is coming, it's very like being anxious and feeling that a disaster is just about to happen.
Have you seen Rosemary's Baby? People call it horror but one interpretation is that it's a film purely about anxiety.
I write a lot of stories and most of them are horror. I probably couldn't do it if I wasn't anxious, and getting the stories out probably helps with the anxiety to a certain extent.
Horror and anxiety are tied?
I think so in a way. Perhaps people with anxiety can relate to them in a way that other people can't. I don't think there's anything wrong with liking particular genres of fiction, though. Quite a lot of fiction is entertaining as a book or a film but wouldn't be fun at all in real life. A lot of the situations are quite extreme and would be frightening to experience, even in stories that aren't horror as such.
Horror is a mainstream genre, read and watched by millions of people. That has to include plenty of normal people because there just aren't that many crazies out there!
So I'm not crazy for me to like it?
Millions of people like horror movies, so to say they're all crazy would be a big step! Also, in the end people are judged on what they do, not by what they like to watch. If someone watched Scream and then went and did the same thing in real life, that would be crazy. He would be crazy because he'd killed people, though, not because he watched horror movies.
People are all different, and there is room for all of them as long as they don't hurt others. Don't feel pressured to fit in, there are lots of roles in society and you're sure to find your place.
I feel I'm living in a Horror story, apparently the Horror genre of movies affect us differently, if we are already of a nervous disposition of suffer depression/ Anxiety horror movies can make our irrational fears appear to be more real !( We know our anxieties are not real in the main but we still have them ,after a horror film we are more on edge) I don't know if it's our anxieties that feed off of the movies or that movies are based on our anxieties ,? But they are definitely linked as far as I'm concerned!
I love horror movies and thrillers. It’s not a bad thing! Everyone has different interests
I used to think similar thoughts. I grew up reading Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and stories about serial killers. I love the same kind of movies/documentaries. I used to think "people probably think I'm psycho" 😄 You know those people who can watch scary movies by themselves, in the middle of the night when it's dark??? Yea that's me.
