Discontinuing amitriptyline and scared

Hi guys,

My doc wants me to come off amitriptyline and go onto sertraline. They want me to drop the dose by 25mg every week. I cant do that as symptoms return im 2-3 days. I read somewhere that you should reduce by 10% of your dose every 2 weeks. Does anyone know where I can get this info too show my doc?

Hi there. A bit obv but have tried to google the nhs leaflets. I had same experience but different meds and i was dropped by 1mg per week from a start point of 30mg.

It def sounds like a lot and tell yr doc it's causing u to stress.

I love Cornwall... my mum is from Newquay originally so I get to visit the family as often as possible - Nothing like a cheep hol lol

Why does your doc want you to switch? If it works for you... why fix it if it ain't broke. Just a thought

Hi Sun. The amitriptyline is for chronic pain and the sertraline for anxiety and ocd. I need to do a bit more research on sertraline but Im starting to think its the right way to go even though I dont want to be on meds at all
