Im new here... I have very bad anxiety and panic attacks. I feel as if I’m about to die. Every mornig I wake up with fast heart beat and it makes me very anxious. I usually end up having a panic attack every day. Today I went to the doctors and they prescribed sertalraline and Buspar. I don’t know if I will take them since the doctor warned of developing depression. I don’t know what to do anymore.

Hi, I’m not familiar with either of these medications. But I do believe if you’ve tried everything else that medication can help short term. Have you tried reading up above anxiety and it’s fear cycle? There are some brilliant books on it .
Try to tell yourself every morning when your hearts beating like mad , and you’re starting to panic, that it’s just adrenaline pumping around making it all worse.. you are not going to die from that , as horrible as it feels... it will pass it always does .. but the more you remain worried about it happening again, the more adrenaline you’ll realeas and then you’ll panic all over again because it has nowhere else to go!
So breathe deep and count your breath in and out , calm yourself, put the radio on get up and try hard to get on with your day .. we are all here to help . ☺️
I too have chronic anxiety, dry heaving, going to start. Anti depressants meds too, also on diazepam. Will. Let you. Know how. I get on. Hope you be better soon.
How sad to be given a med that is supposed to help but could create an additional problem. That would be enough reason for me to do my homework and get educated about what I put into my body and why.
I had panic attacks years ago and since then have done extensive research on them to find out exactly what went on inside my body. My findings showed that the origin for these is rooted in fear; fear from any number of circumstances, expectations, anticipating something negative, etc.
Also, it could be the after affects of broken relationships, personality type, memories, grief, rejection, and the list could go on.
These responses stem from a number of things:
too much cortisol and adrenaline getting released from the adrenal gland
not enough serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine (Norepinephrine release is lowest during sleep, rises during wakefulness, and reaches much higher levels during situations of stress or danger)
memories locked into the brain from the past
The best hope for change can come from a functional doctor specializing in endocrinology who will check your hormone levels and help you bring them all back into balance through natural methods. I am living proof this works!
In the meantime, do your utmost best to avoid food triggers that upset these levels, get more exercise, and watch out for body products containing hormone disruptors.
This is a very condensed answer to an otherwise complex issue, so I just mentioned a few things. Seeking out counseling with a pastor of a Bible believing church will also do wonders. Help is right around the corner - closer than you think!
I have had anxiety most of life. I feel like I can't breathe.. it lasts TOO,, and it will pop up off and on all day long. I have good days and not so good days.. ugh!!!
When I can't breathe, I start freaking out, and my heart races & I feel like I am gonna die or something!!! Its so scary and I am so sick of getting this way over and over!!!!
