Hi Lindsey, What you may be experiencing are anxiety attacks. The Panic attack tends to come on suddenly with much intensity but also leave quicker than the anxiety attack does. The anxiety attack tends to come on slower as well as building with fear and takes a little longer to completely go away. The 2 attacks share 2 symptoms in common and that is the fast or irregular heart rate and the feeling like you are having trouble breathing.

Ironically, the answer for relief is the same. Acceptance, not fearing it, knowing that this too shall pass and deep breathing. Hope this helps some xx

Thank you

Hi Lindsey. There are some excellent comments here so I won't repeat. However, I highly recommend a book by Claire Weeks called "Hope and Help for Your Nerves". It's super cheap on Amazon and is excellent information and very easy reading. She was a doctor in Australia and a pioneer in her work with patients with anxiety. It really helped me to learn how to accept the anxiety symptoms rather than fight them.
