So I’ve just woke up nd feel like my chest is tight nd can’t breathe properly and gone lightheaded. It’s sent me into a full blown panic attack. Is anyone awake? Need someone to talk to xx

I’m actually getting pains in my chest but will that be cos I’m hyperventilating? I just got out of hospital on Monday night with a broken ankle with metal plates in foot so can’t put any weight on that foot at all nd dealing with this anxiety on top is a killer. Are u on any meds? Or are u like me and too scared to take them? Xx

I take meds and they help me tremendously. They are meant to help you through the difficulties while you are also doing other things like therapy, meditation, exercise, yoga etc. you still need to do self care no matter what even if you start on medication. I would talk to your doc and see what the options are and make some choices, there is nothing wrong with needing help even if it’s from meds.

I’ve been prescribed sertraline 50mg bout 2yrs agony which I never took as I’m anxious taking the tablet. But I have spoke to a few ppl that have said if I’m an anxious person and anxious about tablets I should ask about citalopram as they start off as low as 10mg. I know certain pills don’t work well with certain ppl but any suggestions is much appreciated. Thanks

It’s always scary putting something in your body and not really knowing how you are going to react to it. I had to try about three different medications before I found the one that worked best for me. If you feel comfortable starting with citalopram at a low dose than I would just go for it. I mean you are clearly thinking about it. You won’t know until you try it. Let me know what happens, I wish you the best.

I'm awake! First night in a couple weeks that I can't sleep. Not super anxious, but just awake! How are you doing now? I'm awake because I am having some chest pain as well. Just one of the awful symptoms of anxiety. I'm here if you want to chat!

Thanks for replying, my throat feels tight like I can’t swallow properly or anything but think it’s due to being tense off the anxiety. Just wish I could get better for the sake of my kids. Are u on any meds or tried any? I’ve been prescribed sertraline 2yrs ago but won’t even take it cos am scared of tablets xx

I am on meds and have been for quite a few years. I ended up in the emergency room three times in one week about 11 years ago due to panic attacks. I am all for taking meds that are prescribed and that will help me have a normal life. Meds are not a cure but they help so I'm not in a constant state of panic.

Could I ask what meds u are on? If u don’t want to say though it’s fine. I just like to see if ppl do good on certain meds. My sister is on citalopram nd she said they just make her feel calm. I always worry about side effects off tablets that’s what scares me taking them

I refuse to take benzos because I have been on them in the past and I hate the way they make me feel.. (almost high) so I made sure my psychiatrist knew that I didn't want them. I currently take BuSpar which has been a game changer for me. I also take Seroquel at bedtime. I've only been on this one maybe a year and my life has changed dramatically. But everybody is different.
