So I finally seen GP for Anxiety today. She prescribe me Hydroxyzine 25mg as needed. She tried to prescribe me 50mg but I wanted to start out low dose. My question is have anyone taken this medication for anxiety and did it seem to help. I know every one is different and what works for someone might not work for me, I’m just curious about this med never heard of it and I don’t want to antidepressants unless I really have to. The doctor said it will help with my insomnia as well.

Hydroxyzine is actually an antihistamine like Benadryl. So it has a sedative effect just like Benadryl can make you tired. It is normally for short term use when used for anxiety and can be taken Orally up to 50 to 100 mg 4 times a day so 25mg is pretty low and a good starter dose I would think. I wouldn’t drive while taking it just in case and stay away from alcohol as well. It did nothing for me but neither does Benadryl lol. Hoping you have success, good luck!
