Hi everyone. I’m really confused about wether I have Hypoglycemia or not? I started feeling shaky a lot about 6 months ago. I had my sugar level checked after not eating for 12 hours and it was 4.7, doc said normal range. I’ve had random blood sugar checks and they’ve always been normal and the latest one was when I went to a walk in centre for some issues I was having she checked my blood sugar then and I’d not eaten in 4 hours and it was 5.5. She said still normal. I’m confused because I feel shaky a lot but I don’t get any other symptoms at all. Apart from feeling anxious when I’m shaky because I suffer from anxiety and everything sets me off. I have been tested for diabetes and I don’t have that either so I’m not sure what’s going on!!

Hi laurenjf,
When you feel shaky, is it while you are also in an anxious moment? Or maybe feel a bit stressed or having a panic attack? What I’m getting to here is that the shaky feeling is probably your body’s response to releasing adrenaline when you start to have a bit of a panic attack or are starting to get worked up. I literally feel sometimes like I have Parkinson’s or something. It’s most likely just your bodies reaction to the way your brain is telling it to respond.
Hope that helps put things in perspective. Sometimes you have to think of it like science. If a doctor is telling you that you are not hypoglycemic, believe them.
Unfortunately it’s not. I can be feeling fine and then it just hits me out of nowhere. But I have started now avoiding things Incase it happens in public so I keep avoiding going out! Yes the doctor doesn’t think it’s that and I guess they know better than me!
I never think that I’m in the middle of a panic, but my therapist says it’s something that my brain is just prone to going into that state, because I have to retrain the way I’m thinking.
I’ve told him- I’m sitting at work, doing my job, and then all of a sudden, raid heart beat, dizziness, flushed face, vision gets blurry, etc. I have nothing to be anxious about and it just starts happening. He says that in my head something slight is triggering my brain to release the adrenaline- think of it as fight or flight. My brain just goes there, even if I don’t see a reason why, subconsciously there is.
So long story short, tell yourself when it happens that it’s just your anxiety and that you’re fine. Don’t avoid things. I know it’s hard, but the more you force yourself into situations and have a good outcome, the more empowered you will feel.
Every time I have a successful night out or work through something I smile and say out loud to myself- see! You can work through it!
Best of luck. I know you will work through it.
I just started shaking out of nowhere 6 months ago. It drove me crazy, even my legs would shake. I Did all kinds of tests and I'm healthy as can be. Dr said it's anxiety it's built up and releasing. I am currently on propananol for tremors and anxiety and it works amazing , no more shaking. Good luck to you.
