Hi there moms or dads!

I have a question. So dealing with a fussy eater & new mom . My daughter is twos years old and is a vary fussy eater ‘ she doesn’t really wanna eat anything I give her , she won’t even eat fruits or vegetables , it makes me so frustrated because everyone I talk too thinks it so easy and makes me feel like a bad mom , I know to be patient with this fussy eating but it’s frustrates me and gives me anxiety about her not getting enough nutrition , so stressful :(

What does she like? Is she gaining weight? Does she gag at any foods or get very upset when presented with certain foods? Btw I do this for a living.

She is gaining weight but not a lot , she’s only 29 pounds and 30 inches long , doctor said she’s fine & healthy but it stresses me out when I see kids her age eating what their moms give them & makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong :(

She doesn’t gag when she gets new food or anything , but she pushes the food away or moves her head away if I say eat or try giving her the spoon , sometimes she’s not fussy and will eat something new but then she would spit it out

Do you do a sectioned plate where food doesn’t touch? I’d offer something new in one section and an old reliable in the other sections. You can also reward.... try one bite and you get this (whatever small thing she may like). Food chaining is mixing something she doesn’t like with one she does. For example, giving pretzels and peanut butter together if she didn’t like peanut butter and make a game out of dipping the pretzels. Making food look fun like peanut butter on celery with raisins in top (ants on a log). Sneaking proteins and veggies... such as making black bean brownies (they are good lol) or adding flax seed to cereal or oats. A good multivitamin is suggested. I don’t recommend pediasure type drinks because that can make it worse. Only if she was terribly malnourished. Most of all just make it fun with no pressure. On a personal note my son was ultra picky and grew out of it. Hang in there you aren’t alone. Just keep offering new things... you may be surprised what she likes :)

If your doctor is satisfied and your child is gaining weight and having bowel movements, then things are probably ok. It is indeed agony to see a child reject food. I’m still going through that with my five year old.

For one thing you could give her a pediasure supplement while working on it. Offer incentives. A cookie if you eat your veggies. Smoothies or “slushees” are a good way to disguise fruits and vegetables. You can also hide vegetables in favorite dishes. My grandson will eat organic meals made for kids with veggies in it if he doesn’t see them or know about it. Some you may even want to blend some to smaller pieces. Make it fun. Broccoli is trees for the big green giant etc. Add ranch if needed to get them to eat it first. Then once they say they like it or it’s goid start not having ranch etc. Also no sweets without good food. A lot of snacks are healthy but still look good. Presentation is important. As always lead by example! The tooth fairy also will not pay for teeth that have not eaten vegetables. My grandson wanted to eat some and brush his teeth for the big payout. Also get her involved in the kitchen. She can have a toy cooking set and apron and if she helps make it she will be more likely to eat it.
