Just looking for someone to talk to who is going through similar.
I’m a young mum with 2 kids, I’m being treated for ocd and anxiety. I’ve recently lost my dad and grandmother in the last 6 months which has left me with severe anxiety over my children’s health.
A slight cold leaves me with severe panic attacks which happen during the day and have recently started happening at night also. I also have started having sleep paralysis which is causing me to suffer panic attacks more frequently. I’m currently taking around 3/4 a week but this has been worsening.
Guess I’m just looking for some information on peoples coping mechanisms for when there taking /feel a panic attack coming on.
Thanks

HI, Im so sorry to hear of your recent losses. It makes sense that you are worried about losing more loved ones, but that fear has no basis in reality. They are young and healthy. All kids get colds, etc. I can really relate to you because my mom died when I was a very young child, so of course I have worried about losing other people my whole life, especially my children. I have had Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and my therapist gets me to look at the facts. For instance I told her i was worried about my kids driving and she told me that most people who go out for a ride do come home alive. And she asks me to look at the statistics of things and asks me if i would bet my home on the small percentage of bad things happening. Usually i say no. So that helps me. I hope that can help you in some way. I also try to live in the present and not worry about the future, which is easier said than done, I know. Have you tried mindfulness? Like staying in the moment...looking at your babies face as you wash it and thinking about the things you are doing and not letting your mind go rouge. You've been through a rough time. Try to future yourself and be kind to yourself. Good Luck <3
