Hi

I wanted to just say hi and wish everyone in this community a happy Xmas.

I shall be posting this onto the other communities I am a member of as well so I apologize if you read this twice.

I love Christmas, but I also know that it can be really stressful sometimes, especially when there are things going on for us that we are battling on a day to day basis in terms of our anxieties, stress and depression.

I love a good glass of wine (or two) at this time of year but most of all I choose to look at Christmas and New Year as a time for self-reflection.

I know that sometimes this isn't the easiest thing to do, if your like me and give yourself some serious talking to sometimes...

But I like to think of things in this way;

Regardless of you're religious beliefs this life is yours to create; your past is your past, you cannot change it, this is true, but your future is not yet written, this is just as true. As the creatures we are, our minds can sometimes focus too much on the negative rather than the positives in our lives, this is because our minds are always looking for problems to solve, as creative beings we need to focus on things that need to change so that we may improve because that is how we have evolved to survive, to imagine a solution that would bring about change so that we may survive and become better than we were.

This is still the same for us so our minds find problems to solve within us, but our modern life of complacency means that we don't always take action on this and we just tend to let things happen and say "well that's just how things are, that's just who I am" but then we end up in some form of emotional pain because our minds are telling us that something is wrong, we do nothing and end up carrying this stuff around for years and years and that then causes anxiety and depression.

So, we must learn that these emotional and mental challenges are merely signals for us that something in our life needs to change. I know easier said than done right? It's true, but that's what is so important about it, if it was easy to do this it wouldn't be as valuable to you now would it...but we don't like things difficult in our modern world do we, hardship is something we don't need...but if that's true why do we let ourselves suffer?

So instead of finding a solution we hang on to the story of the pain and we carry it with us in the present and what's worse is that we then project it onto our future so we end up in a closed state unable to imagine anything other than that which we have focussed on for so long...the pain that has become our support role to our leading lady or leading man in a film of our lives...and that film is Groundhog day.

Yes our past cannot be changed, but our future truly is unwritten and today can be the day you let the past go, the day you let the old story that confined you wash away...

Christmas is my time to look at the coming year as the best Christmas gift I could ever receive from nature. To look at what was and let it go with a grateful heart that I am given the opportunity to make the most of the coming year and make it the beginning of a new story in my life, one that I write with me as the hero of my story, where I make a stand, where I come through and fight the fight that takes me to the place where my future is something that I can look upon with joy and excitement because I am in full control...this is the truth. I can overcome anything I choose. I am stronger than I could ever have imagined. My story is not the one where I fail, not the one where I slip into the dark but the one in which I am victorious and at the end, which is normally the beginning of a new story, I stand with hands aloft and proclaim that this is who I truly am.

So...Christmas is coming. Take time with yourself to sit and think about what could be true for you as you step into this next year and think to yourself what a gift this is because when you do you may find that you can become anything that you wish to be because that is within your nature and tonight as you sleep and every night as you sleep let this be the seed that is planted because when you plant a seed the seed grows doesn't it and when a seed grows it becomes something new, something reborn, something beautiful and true and when you become something beautiful and true you become who you really are.

Merry Xmas
