I moved to a new country a few months ago for a study programme and since the first day I've been here, I've been experiencing pretty much constant nausea and vomiting bile in the mornings. I've had a couple of good weeks with nothing, but regularly wake up early in the morning and have to vomit several times. It's on an empty stomach, so it tends to be bile. After that, I gradually get more hungry throughout the day. Some mornings I wake up early and I feel fine, but then I go back to sleep and wake up again and the cycle starts all over.
I'm getting help from a stomach specialist but deep down, I'm pretty sure it's anxiety. I used to get similar symptoms when I was younger on school trips, but they went away once I got home. I've tried lots of things: mindfulness, anti-nausea and I really want to stay here (kind of have to, it's part of my degree!).
Just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences and more importantly, how they got over it! Determined to not let this get the better of me, but after three months of this, it's hard to stay positive.
Thanks for reading!

Hey, I have stomach problems with anxiety mine twitches/gargles and I get acid reflux bad. Also feel bloated and trapped gas, been like It over a month now, doctor just said it was IBS caused by anxiety.
gc, this is classic anxiety. You are insightful, and must have had a problem with feeling secure on overnights as a kid. I did. I have over protective pratents who scared me so I would NOT want to go away from them ( whatever) so I developed the exact same kind of stomach stuff you describe. I would wake in the middle of the night shaking with a sick stomach whenever I went away from home.
with that said, you are brave and yes this is NORMAL and as you get more familiar with your surroundings it will go away.
call me silly, but get a stuffed animal and take it to bed with you. It helps us all!
I had a tummy bug 6 weeks ago and it was horrible and I have a fear of being sick. I too am now stuck in a rut. My tummy is all upset because I am not eating properly
I can feel a bit better in the evening, only to wake up in the morning with a churning stomach and a dash to the loo...And then I get anxious and feel nauseous again. I hate it, but I'm sure it's me, but I can't get myself put of it.
