better late than never

Hi, welcome to being active on the venue. Didn't quite get he connection between you saying you self-medicate and you stating you can't be hypnotized. LOL
Concerns me that you are self-medicating, as that may not be appropriate for your body chemistry....but you are aware of that I think, so again welcome to posting. Now about hypnosis....that was a "trick" statement, wasn't it...as you know that a person has to be willing to be hypnotized to be hypnotized. Was taught how to do that in my graduate courses in therapy. And some people become uncomfortable or afraid when they feel they are becoming hypnotized, so it's stopped at that point.
I would be subconsciously resistant to it, I think, even if a therapist thought it would help...so maybe I can't be hypnotized either?
Again welcome to being active. We can always use another intelligent, caring person participating.

Hiya,
I think hypnotherapy is more like a state of mind. I find I'm just in an extremely relaxed state. Things just go into your subconscious even if you think nothing is happening.

thats the trhing with anxiety,it blocks out anything good, you can gointo a downward spiral, hoping against hope an outside influence might help..
Yes, thats a problem I found. I went onto antidepressant tablets. They gave me that little window of opportunity to help myself - like Hypnotherapy or CBT. I was only on them for 3 months. I still feel things bring me down but now I have some coping mechanisms in place and put them into practice.
