Danielle, Being prepared and having candles right now is a necessity. Everybody's stress is running high right now, not only yours. There is nothing you can do right now but to follow your parent's advice on what they feel is best in this situation. Togetherness is all important right now. x
Finally have some internet...none since yesterday. Been trying to send reply to Dannielle, but won't send out, maybe this one to you will. Hurricane is really going to destroy a great deal of the state. Her path keeps changing. We are safe, but ship is being kept extra days away from Florida as the hurricane hit Cuba hard, and that slowed her down, but she is back totally in warm water which speeds her up heading for Miami. Due to hit sometime Sunday. She has sifted from the hitting the middle of the state tip 130 mph and shifting slightly to the west coast (That's the Gulf of Mexica and the Tampa Bays areas where we live.)
Everyone is going to affected. My husband and I have accepted our homes may not be there when we can get there. This megaship has decided to travel one day east to Costa Maya and moor there a day. Then see if possible to sail northeast after the hurricane has passed Florida and hope the harbor at Cape Canaveral is in decent shape to moor.
HearYou, I did receive your message and am so thankful that you are able to keep us updated. I can't even start to imagine what you are going through. Not only on the open waters but when you return home. One day at a time. It's times like this that we realize who true friends are. Agora1 xoxo
Just got internet back...off all night. Not certain if you received my message. You hate those candles because they remind you they are there because this hurricane is coming. Throwing them out won't stop the hurricane.....and you may find those candles very helpful at night.
If you want to do something a little crazy, that won't hurt the candles and might make you feel better if you have a wicked sense of humor, Pick up the candles and spit on the bottom of each one where they won't be lit. and then just put them down quietly and smile and say nothing. Will drive your Mom nuts and maybe call you crazy...lol.
You and I have anxiety in our lives normally, but the not nothing when, where and actions of the hurricane is feeding us more anxiety. And that is normal. We aren't nuts.
My home is in Tampa, and the ship we are can't even get close to Florida. Are you on west coast or east?
As long as someone is responsible for ensuring that the environment around the candles are safe, and that the candles are properly extinguished, it should be fine.
