Hi Cobon, I've been in the position you are in right now. TMJ/TMD took over my life for a while. It took a while to realize that my anxiety was in part causing the problem as well as the bite being off. Physical therapy did a lot for me in working with the facial muscles and relieving the trigger points in the back of the head and neck. It did indeed cause my anxiety to surface with strange head sensations as well as muscle tension headaches and spaciness. Using different modalities that work in allowing the facial muscles to relax are a great benefit as well as using hot paks on the face, neck and shoulders. When you have TMJ issues it affects more than the face. I wish you well in getting to the root of the cause. Feel better.

What can I do from home? Feels like my head is being pulled left and right. When I lay down it's like pressure is being applied every which way. I can tell it's my jaw wanting to relax or is causing the muscle to tense up. It sucks man it feels like hell but the roof of my mouth all the way to the top of my head feel this way.. like a rod is going straight through my skull.

Hi Cobon, I have TMJ problems, I underwent bilateral temporal Mandibular jaw joint replacement sure her in March 2015. I had my surgery in Birmingham UK. I didn't know I had it or the extent of the disease, untill I was on the pathway to having titanium rods fixed to either side of my spine. Sadly the spinal surgery didn't take place as due to my server Osteonecrosis my spine wasn't stable enough to support the amount of metal work. I did ask why it was that I didn't feel any pain in my jaw, and a fair reply was probably due to the amount of pain medication I'm already taking.

The Hospital I had to go to in Birmingham was quite a treck as I live 180 miles away, but honestly I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I had to go that far away as I have stage 3 emphysema with only 40% lung function left, I honestly couldn't have been taken care of any better.

Hopefully we can chat at some point on here if you feel you would like to.

I am due to go back up to Birmingham tomorrow (7/3/17) and the journey can leave me wiped out for a couple of days, so please bare with me.

Regards x

Ah man, mine isn't no where near that bad. Mine is all mental stress that makes me subconsciously tense up my muscles.

Hi Cobon, it doesn't really matter how mild or bad it is, it affects all of us in many different ways. Maybe try relaxation methods with a calming cd, even for 20 mins can be helpful.

I'm here if you wanna chat, sometimes it's easier to unload things which are causing you to feel stressed with someone you don't know.

Kind regards mutt1
