On lexapro and still having anxiety...

Hi I am new here I am 37 yrs old and have had anxiety forever! About 6 months ago I got sick with a stomach virus and switch jobs at the same time. Ended up in the Er needing a potassium drip but everything else was normal. Had a colonoscopy and endoscopy which showed gastritis and was put on aciphex by Gastro dr.Needless to say my anxiety was off the charts and this virus lasted 3 weeks. I was on lexapro 20mg and it wasn't working at all! I went up to 25mg of lexapro as I previously was on 30 before but I seemed to get shakes and extra anxiety and was waking up at 5-6 am every morning with a burning chest so my psychiatrist recommended I go back down to 20mg because the 25 was to high and gave me xanax for breakthrough. It finally got better but took a good month or so. Fast forward 5 months later and I started to feel like I was getting sick again. I had diarrhea and nausea and of course my anxiety kicked into high gear! Went to my gp and he ran all kinds of test and blood work which of course is all normal. Everyday I feel like I am having anxiety all day long I am waking up at 5am again with the burning feeling and it is making it super hard to work and I really like my job but don't have time to take off when I feel bad. I feel the lexapro isn't working any more and I have been taking more and more xanax. My dr said I can take it twice a day but I try not to take it unless I really need it. For 15years I never needed anything else but lexapro but now I am getting scared and don't know what to do. Anyone relate??

So how long have u been on your new stuff and have u had imorovement? I am scared to get off the lexapro as it has worked perfectly for so many years I just don't get why all of a sudden it isn't working..

It's only been two days but I feel great (could be a placebo effect so far). That's so strange it would stop working I can't understand why that would happen! But again I think a naturopath would be the best answer they can check everything in your system out :). It was a blessing for me.
