Lexapro help?

I have GAD and panic disorder. I was recently prescribed Lexapro. I am currently on day four and I don't know if I should continue. I have read a lot of people saying that it gets worse before it gets better but idk if I want to wait it out. I take it at night and I have trouble sleeping. When I wake up in the morning it feels like my head is filled with pressure and I'm dizzy.. I have also been having hot flashes and feeling clammy. I guess I can deal with all of those side effects but what is really scaring me is that I was reading that people killed themselves on it... it makes me really scared that I will lose control and do the same. Last night my mind was racing so bad and I was so scared I couldn't even think straight. I kept waking up with waves like electric bolts through my body (mostly chest and arms). When I woke up, I was laying down trying 5o get a little more sleep and the waves kept happening. I am desperate for something to help with my panic but I'm petrified of medicine. Anyone have experience with Lexapro? Should I ride it out or stop?

I know nothing about Lexapro, but you might find anything you need to know on the Drugs.com website. They give details of side effects of all drugs & you can get answers from other users of Lexapro to any questions you might have, on the "Support Group Q & A" part of the site.

Thank you. I have done so much research it's so confusing. Everyone reacts differently .

I have had Lexapro. I did not have side effects like that, but I did with Prozac. Many times the startup for ssri's is kind of rough. Sometimes a doctor will give you a benzo to counteract the start up side effects till your body gets acclimated. Give it a little time. Looking online, you can probably find that people have killed themselves while taking anything, even aspirins and antibiotics. The positive attributes are not click bait and newsworthy and are usually under reported. If you have concerns, talk to your doctor. Good luck.

Thank you. I know that they have to put warning on everything now about suicide. I just deparately want to feel normal again. I was on Zoloft previously but did not have side effects. Granted I was not suffering with panic disorder back then. I took my 5th dose last night and actually slept a little bit. And I actually don't feel bad today. So I'm assuming the side effects might start to wear off soon.

Hi. I hope you are feeling better today. I’ve been debating starting Lexapro for months but the side effects terrify me. :(

I was put on Lexapro because it didn't have as many side effects I guess but I really just think it's me overthinking it. I am doing a little better. And I hope to continue to get better from here
