Medication, behavioral therapy, stress management are your best choices.

After a year trying to avoid medication I tried it and it gave me the worst side effects had to be rush to the er.. I was dizzy panick attack nauseas diarrhea hearing things. It was horrible. I don't know if my doctor prescribed to much but it was the worst feeling I been in beed for 3 days now after that my dizziness is still present with anxiety. I have an appt with my psychiatrist next week hope she can help to point me in the right direction😔

Finding the right med is sometimes a lot of trial and error. At least it was for me. But once they find that right combination, you should start feeling better, more in control and without the side effects. That is what the doctors want to see.

Well don't forget I was left on Xanax for 30 years and became dependent. From there I was taken off the Xanax put into the hospital where they tried different benzos as well as antidepressants. They monitored by b/p as well as having so many lab tests done daily until they found the right amount in my blood levels.

I barely remember those times since I was really doped up most of the time. So I understand what you are saying. Side effects can range from very severe to mild. It was a trying time for sure. I was always crying big time and they couldn't seem to control that. Now within the last 9 months or so, I am feeling more like myself. It's a good feeling Sfqueen. I wish for you to get to that point as well. xx

Yeah I hear Xanax is not the best. I honestly want my life back I can deal with the anxiety the thoughts are the ones that bother me the most that make my life miserable

I know what you are saying but hard for me to totally comprehend because I've never had the obsessive thoughts. But I feel for you. It must be terrible.

maybe a different medication and dose would be better. Was this a regular doctor that gave it to you? Psychiatrists are far better equipped to know dosage and medication type after being able to evaluate you through a therapy session.

FYI- All meds comes with a week of getting used to. If the side effects are listed on more the serious side then yes get off of them.

Yes it was my regular doctor he started me at 50mg Zoloft

that's a low dose to start off with.

Any antidepressant will alter your brain chemistry and feel weird at first. If you are absolutely not comfortable then wait till you see your psychiatrist.

In the meantime please review the common side effects that were given to you when you picked up the prescription.

Sfqueen, I was just reading about it. I never knew it existed. You are really hurting aren't you? Have you talked it over with your doctor? I'm sure you know it doesn't come without risks. Please think hard about it. I hope you get some response from someone who may have gone through the brain surgery. xx

You need to explore medication. Tell them you want a low dose to start. I went thru Effexor XR, Lexapro, Xanax, Cymbalta.. Not everything will work for you. Side affects are a part of every medication. I always get side effects.. You have to chose which one gives you side effects you can deal with. I ended up going with Cymbalta but got weird side effects. If you just can't deal with the side effects, try to explore natural options.

Of course! I pray you find something that works for you. I get anxiety/panic attacks and it's really hard to live with.. So I can only imagine. It's definitely good to explore the meds.. If you are getting those side effects then I'd change meds too. Just make sure you research all the meds and when you find one that seems good, ask the doctor to put you on it.
