Hi has anyone been on lexapro and gone off them and gone back on them again? Ive been off them for 10 months now but anxiety/panic attacks have returned and thinking I should go back on them. Not sure if they will work a second time around! or better to try something different!
Lexapro: Hi has anyone been on lexapro and... - Anxiety Support
Lexapro
I haven't done this with Lexapro but I have with Prozac. Both are SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) and act similarly in your body. I see no reason why you shouldn't unless you had a problem with Lexapro. I answer medical questions on a different site in the US and am a medical professional myself. I am not a psychiatrist.
This is my 3rd time to go back on it and it's helped. It's a life saver!
I've been taking Lexapro (Generic) for nearly 10 years. The dosage has ranged from 5-15 ML. My experience is that from times I've been off the drug and starting back up it has always been effective. Remember it takes the better part of 2 weeks before the drug reaches it's fully potential of calming anxiety. Talk to your doctor, but it's import to gradually increase and decrease the dosage per your doctors instructions.
yes you can go back on lexapro, I have been on them for 10 years or more and there are no side affects. I am on 20mg and I fine they help me. So just go back on them.
There are always side effects. For me mostly yawning and increased sweating. But it sure beats panic attacks and increased anxiety. I should also include that I now practice mindfulness meditation and try to get a good walk in every day. Getting on a lower dose and eventually off Lexapro is my long term goal.
I was on Effexor for years and then went off for 2 years. As my stress increased I went back on. It work just as good as before.
You really should seek your doctors advice. We think sometimes we are better because we do not feel anxious but it is a mistake. If we have not do not deal with the worrying thought processes then once we are off they start back up again. Not saying that this is your situation. but getting off should be done very slowly and under doctors supervision. I am currently at 10mg every other day wishing to back of but I can just tell I should not. Sometime after going off a particular type of ssi especially if going off to fast it can become less effective and will not work the same when used again. Doctor is best person to discuss this with and if they seem detached and not really carrying about your anxiety issues then it is time to find one who does. Just some thoughts.
