Does anybody have experience with it? Does it help with chest and head pressure, also help with loss of appetite? So curious about the medication, still sitting in the bottle, but I'm leaning towards trying them
Lexapro: Does anybody have experience with... - Anxiety Support
Lexapro
H Tweetg, I've been on it close to 5 years now and what I like about it is you don't know it's in you. But in a good way. For me, it's been the best drug I've been on and the only one carrying me through now. I've been where you are with the meds sitting in the bottle on my shelf. Had I not reached out to take the Lexapro, I would never have known how well it works for me. I hope you lean a little further and try it. I wish you well on it.
Lexapro worked great for me for a few years. The only thing it affected was sex...it wasn't as good as it should have been. Most people won't tell you that. But that's true of most of these drugs. Since I couldn't function without the Lexapro, I was grateful to have it.
I have been on Lexapro about a year now. I started off taking half of my pill because I was afraid of the side effects. Then I worked my way up . I do feel better, but I also take a good vitamin as well.
I must add, vitamin b12 spray, and B complex has helped me also.
I have been on lexapro for more than a year and the only things that change ever since I'm on this medication are I have more appetite and I feel a little relaxed. Idk if it's because of lexapro or my other medication (I'm on xanax and lorazepam as well) but I don't experience loss appetite so far. When I don't take this medication I have migraine and feel fatigue.
I've been on Lexapro for a while now and it has been the most effective antidepressant I've taken. I recommend starting at a 10 mg dosage then working upwards. I was able to stay on 10 mg for a very long time until a bad illness made my anxiety go through the roof but even now I'm maintaining on 12.5 mg (one 10 mg pill and half of a 5 mg pill). I did have a few days of minor nausea after starting them but it wasn't anything unbearable. Ginger tea actually helped with that. It can't hurt to give it a try and remember that not every medication is going to work the same way for everyone. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor to try something different if you stay on the Lexapro for a month and feel like it's not doing a good job for you. I went through 4 other medications before the Lexapro was a great fit for me.
Hi Tweetg, I started on 10mg and did have mild nausea for about a week when first starting them. I found the nausea would start about 1.5 - 2 hrs after taking the tablet, but would only last for maybe an hour and then disappear. Well worth the minor discomfort, I think for a few days! At times when I went through worse periods with my anxiety, my doctor increased my dose to 20mg, which I found completely manageable and had no further side effects. I actually stayed on this dosage for a few years. How long have you had the Lexapro sitting around? If it's been a while, I would suggest just checking in with your doctor again and let them know of your intention to start the tablets, just so they are aware and can help you monitor how you feel on them. If you do give them a go and find they don't work for you, like Lm92 says above, don't be afraid to go back to your doctor and ask for guidance in trying something else. You must get the medication that works for YOU. Best of luck x
