Hello I'm new to these kind of pages and just need to know I'm not the only person out there. I have had anxiety for 15 years now but just lately it's getting worse.

I feel like I'm always letting people down and never can commit to any thing any body asks me. If I get extra hours at work it cripples me to do them I'm ok for a couple of days then I just can't go on. Them like I said I feel so guilty to people for letting them down. I have been signed off sick for 2 weeks with stress. And just feel that every one at work will think I'm waisting time . Please dose any body other than me feel like this. It makes me feel so low all the time.

Hello. I am sorry to read about your distressing situation. But the first positive thing to say is that you have come to the right place :-) I think that probably everyone here is going through or has gone through the things you describe in your post. So you are not alone by any means. You will find understanding, compassion and support in this group.

Something else you should very good about is the fact that you have managed to hold down a job, despite your illness. So pat on the back for you.

One of the most difficult things to have to deal with, apart from the actual illness, is other people's judgemental attitudes - which is based on zero understanding or knowledge of the illness. Unfortunately, there is not a lot that can be done about that - in time attitudes might change. For now, it is just another challenge to be overcome.

Unless you know the specific triggers that accompany your illness it is not possible to predict when you will get an attack. So you should not feel guilty if you cannot keep to agreements you made when things were fairly ok for you. You have an illness - you are not just messing people about. If you have explained that and they dont or wont understand that is their problem. Probably better if you stick to your basic work hours if you can.

As you have had this illness for 15 I am assuming here have been medical interventions - which clearly have not resulted in your complete recovery. Were you on medication, therapy or a combination of both? And what is the situation now your treatment?

Your health should come first for you - not worrying about other people's opinions of you. You have an illness that is curable - you have the right to receive the proper treatment.

I just find it so hard when my anxiety raises its head.

It leaves me feeling so weak and lost. I'm on medication have since my first brake down some times I go months with out feeling really bad but this time it's has just been so bad. I feel like people are thinking there is nothing wrong with me and I'm just making excuses. But I'm not I feel like I'm ripping apart from inside out and just can't tell people when it starts.

On a different note it's nice to know I'm not on my own In the world and other people feel the Same.

I can imagine, I lost my wee guy 5 years ago and it was one of the hardest times ever, he was a wee cracker x

Hi Batman, the name alone should raise your confidence in that you can do anything :)

As a long time anxiety sufferer, I have disappointed many people in my lifetime. It hurt when they made remarks as to how I was always missing from different occasions in life. Now as time goes by, I'm getting tougher/stronger inside. Hey, I didn't ask to be anxious. As for commitments, that's a tough one. I do better on the spare of the moment. Otherwise, I will continue to worry about something coming up down the road. I will not put myself through this anymore. If others really understood what we mean by anxiety it would be a different thing. Be strong, don't worry about what others say or think and don't put yourself down.
