Hello. Sounds like you are over focusing on swallowing. It is a sign of health anxiety and can be very distressing as you know. In reality the food is not getting stuck - it just feels that way. It might help you if the eating is a secondary activity. I mean try focusing on something else as you eat, so that the eating is more or less an automatic activity requiring no focus. Before you eat make sure you are calm and relaxed. The problem with your swallowing in psychological rather than physical. That's what you have to remember. So switch the focus away from the actual eating. I have used this method myself when I was so anxious that I felt I just could not swallow anything. Taking a few minutes to relax and calm down and using distraction always did the trick.

I too have struggled with this lump in the throat feeling off and on for over ten years. Yes, you read that correctly. I've had all kinds of tests and have been told it's Globus. Google that. As distressing as it is, I have had to try to stop focusing on it. Mash up your food if that helps but mash it, eat and don't think about it.. If you haven't, be sure to check with your doc to be sure everything looks ok...that's always best. There is a forum for Globus Hystericus, I went on there and it helped seeing I wasn't alone. You are not alone. Get your mind on something or someone else, have patience, calm yourself as much as possible. Anxiety is not for sissies. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi. Your mind just got stuck on this symptom. It's all in the subconscious level. You could try visualization. Visualize everything going smoothly down your throat. If you do it over, and over, and over again it should work. However, don't wait for it to disappear just by itself tomorrow. Eventually it will but how long do you want to suffer? Focus on solution, not the problem. Alternatively, you may want to seek hypnotherapy. Cheers
