Why is Anxiety always worse at night ?
Hi
Well done coping so well with your anxiety during the day you have come a long way you should be feeling proud
Most people that suffer with anxiety can find some part of the day is worse than others so as you are finding night times the worse I think it is quite normal
Maybe during the day you are keeping yourself busy , getting out & doing things to help distract you where as night time when we should be relaxing because there is less to do can be when the anxiety tries to creep back in
Try to give it as little attention as possible , I know it isn't easy but as you do it will start to get less

I have also found that nighttime and weekends relaxing are my worst times. My counsellor has suggested that because I operate during the day in a sea of anxiety I have conditioned my body to function on and use that adrenaline. Then, when I am trying to relax, my brain has nowhere to utilize that adrenaline and it manifests into an anxiety attack that seems completely unprovoked. Its those ones that always scared me the most because I couldn't link them to a trigger. Knowing this has helped me ride out the unexpected ones a little easier. Good luck, I hope this offers some comfort.
Mornings are always bad for me. That's when my heath anxiety is strongest. Once I get busy working then sometimes it eases off.
Night can be very bad for me too.
It all seems to come and go.
Hope your eases off soon Loopsyloo.
Hi, I think that during the day you are able to supress a lot of your anxiety by keeping busy and occupying your mind with safe thoughts. When you are asleep, you have no such control over your subconscious mind so it begins to dwell on the source of your anxiety; when your thoughts become emotionally painful to you, you wake up with the full force of your anxiety to deal with. It's quiet and dark, so there is nothing to distract you; you are tired, so you are less able to deal with the stress. No wonder it seems worse at night! In the morning, although you are probably shattered from having had a rotten night, I bet you feel better and are probably able to get on with your day. I think the only solution is to have professional help to help you face your fears during the day so your subconscious gets a rest.
Hope you feel better soon xx
