Hi I have a lot of anxiety at night this is very common so don't think you are alone, trust me you are not. Ive found it best if I get out of bed and try and do something to shift the focus and bring myself back into the here and now. Make a cup of tea anything just to distract alittle. I know its very very difficult but the panic will pass and your breathing will return to normal. At the time I thinkI im going to die but I know I wont and have to keep telling myself I will get through this and it will pass.
Anxieties can really test an individual's will and strentgh. It's scary especially when you are first going through them. And it's natural to ask why me? I've had them for 30 years now with it starting as OCD, then panic disorder, agoraphobia for a brief moment, and of course anxiety. Please seek help in understanding your condition and talking out your issues. Knowledge is power.
It's been a struggle cause it can rear is ugly head depending on what's going around you (stress, hormones). It's always scary when it manifests itself into a different physical symtom each time.
Currently I'm undergoing a new type of anxiety where it affects my wanting to sleep. Been sleepless for over 2 weeks now as parasthesia in my limbs sets in right when I want to rest. It's caused me to associate this with sleep. I'm thinking it's anxiety since I'm undergoing some enormous stress right now regarding my health.
Nonetheless is not fun. And i find with myself with more questions than answers.
I'm 22 and like you have been struggling to understand why me. But as soon as you start to learn to accept what is going on the easier it will become.
I have been dizzy everyday for the past 3 months since I had my first panic attack. there are better and worse days. If you haven't seen your GP yet I highly recommend you book an appointment tomorrow morning. They will hopefully refer you to your gp counselor and if you are really struggling to cope on a day to day basis don't be afraid of taking tablets they offer you.
I started off with beta blockers (propranolol) they help to subside the physical symptoms- heart palpitations, shaking because they block the adrenaline signals sent to your brain.
Dont be afraid of getting help, we all need it sometimes and you need to get back to enjoying life.
