Husbands anxieties and feeling unwell all the time for the past 18 months now.

Hi everyone . I'm after some advice here . 18 months ago my husbands brother died suddenly from a major hart attack and at his funeral my husband was taken ill and had to have a stent surgery as he was told he could of had a fatal hart attack within weeks.

He had the op then suffered an allergic reaction to some of the agents or dye we think and since then he has never been the same . He has panick attacks depression and is taking lorezapam as well as mirtapizane along with statins blood pressure mess etc.

he finds it very hard to get out of bed he is always tired and dizzy. He seems to catch everything going and is convinced that he is always got a cold . There isn't a day where he says he feels ok. I do all the cooking working looking after him and our son as he just can't seem to do anything always saying he feels rough and unwell. I am very supportive and there for him but don't know what else I can do . The doctors say its a mental health issue and not physical. Money is tight and I applied for PIP for him and now have to go to a face to face interview with him. Has anyone done that? I don't know what to expect at this meeting and how he will cope. Any advice would be great .

Sorry for the long post and wish you all a good weekend.

Hi

I am so sorry to read how your husband is suffering & how you are taking such good care of him which must be really difficult for you as I know if you don't suffer with anxiety & depression it can be really hard to understand or know how to help & as an anxiety sufferer I can only say when I have been going through bad times that I sometimes don't know what help I need but knowing someone is there who cares & will just listen to me really helps & I am sure your husband will be really grateful you are there for him :-)

At this moment I have not gone through the new Pip system but I have been through the new benefits system & would imagine they will be similar

When claiming for benefits of any kind there should be two parts to the assessment one the physical side & the other the metal health problems

You can score enough points alone on the Mental health side but if there is anything he struggles with physically as well that may help

Always answer any questions on the worse days he has rather than an odd good day if he has any

Have you any supportive letters or could you get any from your GP or anyone else he may have been seeing due to his illness , if so take them with you & make a point of asking them to read them

Have you contacted you Citizens Advice & asked for some advise , they are very good knowing how best to deal with this claims

Would your husband maybe consider joining this site so he can talk to others that will understand how he feels ?

We welcome family & friends of people that suffer with anxiety or depression & will always try to help where we can so please don't feel alone & come on & talk :-)

I am sorry I could not be more help but hopefully when someone else see's your post they may have some better advise

Let us know how it goes & good luck :-)

Love
