I actually slept for 8 hours last night, I honestly can't remember the last time that happened. I had been sleeping for a little bit longer every night until the warm weather started but then I went back to square 1, on Tuesday night I hardly slept at all.
So, yesterday I was reading about mindfulness, and thinking about all the things my counsellor said about being kinder to myself. I also had quite a busy day, which I suppose helped. Then I had good feedback about an assessment I did for uni when I was really anxious and stressed.
I went to bed about 1130pm and read for a bit, then fell asleep ok (this is what normally happens), woke up at 3 as usual (this is where it normally all goes wrong) but then whenever a thought popped into my head, I was just trying to draw a little bubble around it and observe it, rather than letting it run riot in my head. Repeat ad infinitum.
Then I woke up at about 8. I feel so much better!
If this all works out I'm going to bottle it and give it away to all my insomniac friends on here!
Fingers crossed for tonight...
