Fear!

Even a smallest trigger can send me in the cycle of fears and anxiety which takes a lot of time and efforts to deal with.

I am paying attention to the triggers and recently I got to know that I pay too much attention to my thoughts which have a emotional connect to it. I want to learn how can I learn to handle and Channelize my thoughts for positives and how can I accept my feelings and emotions without judging them.

Anyone please help I seriously need this to live peacefully.

When you hear a thought, listen to it for a second, say "okay," and let it go. Move on to the next thing you're doing. Focus on what you're doing at the moment for example; when you're walking, listen to the sound your shoes make. Count how many steps you're taking. Look for a certain color. Etc...

Thanks for the insightful response, I will try but the thing about the brain is why I am trying to shift my attention it is sending a signal that I am trying to avoid it and my brain try to focus more on that thought again.

I want to learn this art of shifting my attention without letting my brain know that I am shifting because I am trying to heal from anxiety.

Thanks though!

Hi Mur0610

I understand what you’re saying. It’s harder to discard thoughts that have an emotional tie to them. I think that’s normal for everyone. What I do is try to ask myself logically what purpose do these thoughts have? Am I learning anything from them or are they just keeping me more in my head where I’m bound to keep repeating the cycle of the same thoughts over and over? Put your thoughts on a system of: acknowledge the thought, feel whatever you need to feel about it, accept it, then dump it into the abyss. It’s easier to let go of a thought when you’ve challenged if it really serves any logical purpose for you to be having it. I’m not saying every thought has to have a logical meaning but it helps to weed out the ones that are genuinely doing me no good.

Then, do some deep breathing and focus your attention elsewhere. It takes practice but it’s helped me stay on track with more positive and rational thinking, especially when anxiety and fears are involved.

Make sense, I will try and I believe I need a proper training and practice for it.

Any source that can help practice it or how exactly do you do it?

I learned through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Defusion. And accepting that thoughts/emotions are originated from our past which sets us up for failed thinking in the present. It’s about reprogramming the brain. Here’s a good video that explains the bigger picture in why we get stuck in these thoughts that lead us to fear based and negative thinking.
