anyone going through the beginning stages of meds increase?

Slowly increasing the anti-anxiety meds, I’ve done it before, just saying doesn’t get any easier each time.

Guess I always want to skip steps and get to the part where I feel “equilibrium.”

Anyway, I truly hope everyone dealing with anxiety finds a moment, period or lifetime of peace.

I am, and my anxiety is even higher! Is this normal? How long should I push through?

I’m going to go as long as it takes. My family needs me and I need them, and at this point, I have to push through.

I try to track when my anxiety is highest and what may have set it off.

Mornings are difficult, once the meds hit my system, within 2 hours or so, I feel better.

Sounds cheesy but my wife says be positive all the time.

Wishing you all the best in this journey fellow recoverer.

I sure hope. I'm 54 and things are getting worse. I'm at my wits end. I've never been like this before. I really can't take this and from the sound of things, this is going to get worse. To say I'm scared for the future would be an understatement!

I completely agree. What is your dosage history? I increased the prozac to 10 mg after being on 5 mg for 17 days. I now feel panicky, nauseous, and my heart hurts. I sent a message to my NP, and am hoping for some guidance. I really don't want to take a benzo. This feels terrible, and I'm not able to function.

I think one of the lowlights of SSRIs, especially Prozac, is “jittery” feelings when first taking or increasing dosage.

I couldn’t tell if the jittery feeling was anxiety, excitement or what.

I’m currently in the bubble guts phase after 4 days of Paxil going up from 5mg to 7.5mg.

Also use a low dose of Ativan (.25mg) to even out.

Maybe instead of the full 10mg, you could use a pill splitter and go to 7.5 instead?

I find it incredible how I can break down the nuts and bolts of anxiety when I am at my calmest, but when I am anxious, I can barely think straight!

I’m trying and feeling just a little more confident each day, as I am sloooowly increasing the dosage at my own pace.

Sometimes I think the added anxiety/side effects come from the heavy-handed way physicians prescribe the meds.

Maybe our bodies need a slower introduction to medications, but they usually want to get us to the minimum number dose ASAP and then to the maintenance dosage quickly thereafter.

Anyhow, hoping this works for us, and soon we can post triumphant messages and eventually soothe others.

Heard back from my NP, and she said to drop back to 5 mg. She basically echoed what you said: sometimes it takes our bodies longer to adjust to meds. I was only on 10 mg for 5 days, so I hope to not have any withdrawal issues.

I'm in the process of increasing dosage. I can't find much peace. One day of clarity followed by three or so days of pure misery and barely any sleep.

The lack of sleep compounds the misery for me. I remember from before that once my sleep cycle improved, my anxiety began to wane as well.

Waking up and feeling anxious isn’t fun either.

Hopeful for you…

I have been increasing dosage of a med for anxiety for 1 1/2 months. Very few good days and mostly days heavy with anxiety. Now I’m at the highest dose-first day good so far. The journey here has been tough.
