The Meds adjustment is beginning to work

Three weeks ago my depression was on tilt. My doctor newly added Zoloft to my Wellbutrin (which I’ve been taking for years). Finally the Zoloft is beginning to help. She’s having me up the Zoloft gradually, especially for anxiety.

But I’m glad to report that it’s helping. My hope is that I can get to the point that I can combat my social anxiety. It’s so easy to isolate. So I’m hoping the meds help get me to the place where I don’t isolate as much.

To be continued...

that is such great news MrZee...and thank you for posting it....a lot of times we forget to post our success's too, which I feel are equally important when someone who is having issues with their meds., and can see ...yes....sometimes they do work like they are supposed to. I'm happy for you.

That’s great news and boost I need to hear! I started weaning back on my Zoloft almost 3 weeks ago. I still wake with massive anxiety, depression, shakiness, dread, and fear of the future, but by mid afternoon I start to feel like me again. The negative thoughts and feelings lift and I feel hopeful and calm once again. This is big change from feeling anxiety all day long. I’m hoping with time the morning anxiety will go away too.

I hear you. Anxiety is a rough one. For me, I think the Zoloft is also helping with the anxiety... just a little bit.

The thing is when it comes to antidepressants and anti anxiety meds, they all work or don’t work differently for all of us.

I can so relate to when you say 'its so easy to isolate', yeah, scary enough it is..

How do you like Wellbutrin?

For me, Wellbutrin is great. I was amazed how quickly they lifted my mood (2 days). Antidepressants usually take 3 weeks on the average.

I have heard and read a lot of mixed opinions about Welbutrin: works for some and not others.

Everyone’s physiology is slightly different when it comes to antidepressants. So I’d say, give it a try and see how it goes.

I hope that helps.

Thank you for your input. I don’t know if it’s working yet. I am still struggling with sleep. I think it helped my concentration though. I am still feeling depressed. I just want to be better and I cry over that here and there.

Wellbutrin has a bit of a stimulating effect. I take Wellbutrin XR (extended release) which means one dose covers 24 hours. I take it in the morning. That way I sleep well at night.

Good luck. I hope it goes well for you.

Best,

MZ

Thanks. I take it in the morning too.

If you’re up to it, try taking walks... that both helps the depression and I sleep well. Perhaps experiment with that. I’m optimistic whatever it is you will arrive at a good solution. ❤️

I have been working out on the days I have off from work. Otherwise I’m sleeping in as much as possible to get rest because i can’t fall asleep early. Did you find the Wellbutrin to affect your sleep?

Yes, it is easy to isolate, and not healthy. Also on zoloft, starting week 6, but haven't noticed a huge improvement. I've read many posts saying this drug can take time, praying that is the case. Good luck to both of us buddy, take care.

Also ask your doctor if the dosage should be increased. I started on 25mg. Over time 100mg did it for me. Every body is unique. One thing I’ve learned about antidepressants is that it takes time to adjust to the proper dosage to help stabilize the depression. Good luck too!
