Since covid what food items you refuse to buy????

Well since covid there's a few items I refuse to purchase, Cadbury chocolate, not only because of the increasing price, but the taste and quality, and the shrinkage of it products, and obviously the cost. Next one on my hit list is hienz soups , £1.99 for tin of soup in our local co-op , they can stay on the shelves at that ridiculous price, I also refuse to buy mcvitees cheddaries mini biscuits, no flavour and smaller packets (again) we are still in a cost of living crisis and there's no light at the end of the tunnel, the amount of security tag's on food and drink item's has shown that there's a major problem within society, until the price of electricity and gas comes down these prices will continue to climb, there's little growth, and more problems in April with various increases across the board,

I'm not convinced things will be better for the foreseeable future, in fact another recession looks more likely to happen, and we don't need politicians telling us we " feel your pain " the price of champagne, caviar and lobster doesn't affect the rich 🫣😏

Farmers facing so much, trade between countries? Home or food from abroad? How do we the little/common people cope? Foodbanks for some? Do we grow our own foods? All we need is some help from supermarkets or corner shops, discounts on low wages/pension! Coupons I think they had, but from government would be nice!

We are a “hobby farm” irs title, the cost of seed to plant the oats and hay to feed our cattle has doubled. The price of corn we mix with our feed oats has doubled. We quit raising pigs because the cost of buying piglets and the feed to raise them isn’t worth doing it anymore. So we live on beef and eggs we still raise. Even chicken feed has increased. I can no longer care for a garden so those are things I have to buy. And now days you wonder where they came from or if they are safe to eat. Our world is in serious trouble!

This all down to big businesses buying everything and anything, farming should be left to farmers, we are in danger of super sizing everything and those who pretend to care for our welfare eh, shareholders are cleaning up, and the workers have become slaves, and when digital currency is worldwide this will have even more serious consequences, you'll be given electronic " ration books " and will only be allowed certain amounts of meat, alcohol, sugar and even have one for your carbon footprint for flying, if you can still afford that luxury, the world is run by cctv cameras and everything you do will be monitored, and if you fall fowl of the system except a sanction on your electronic money, grim time's ahead I'm afraid to say .

You hit the nail on the head there!! We now have a billionaire in the White House cutting federal programs and workers to stop wasteful spending! 🤫 here’s a thought.. cut the wages of all the deadheads in white house!!! Sorry I shouldn’t say anything because it makes my blood boil!

There was an interesting question posed on a radio station I listened to. It's the opposite of what you are saying but I've been asking a lot of people

What's the one item you would continue to buy no matter how high the price goes?

As to your question I shop the sales. They really aren't great since the prices are so high to begin with. If I can stock up I will do that.

Maybe you can get some candy on sale today? The day after Valentine's lol

❤️🐬

See if there's a Community Action in your area. Where I'm at, you don't have to prove income for regular items, which are really good. Also, some garage sales sell their food if they're moving or have excess. Great prices. Also, on shampoo laundry detergent, etc. You can check your local churches, also.

I agree with all you say. Buy fresh. Cook from scratch and definetly support the UK farmers. I don't have a stomach.. Due to cancer. I have to eat little and often and as a lot of good us not digested what I do have to eat has to be of high quality. And it's not expensive. Just watch those pennies all.

CB: I agree. There are certain foods that we avoid all the time; instant soups, rotisserie chicken, deli cold cuts, frozen meals, saturated oils, whole milk, white bread, bacon, flavored coffee drinks, potato chips, slim jim’s, etc.

You probably get the point: anything that has a high sodium or high fat content we avoid (once in a while we might splurge and have some bacon).

Back when Covid first hit and I just finished my surgery/radiation treatments my wife (who is a fantastic cook) and I decided to try a vegan diet. It was fantastic…..her meals were yummy and we felt great. We stayed vegan for about a year but our love for sushi got the better of us. Now we just eat healthy: lots of veggies, salads and proteins. instead of use yogurt bars, some of which are really good.
