I have been on antidepressants for years, I remember Prozac and another similar and have been on Citalopram 40mg for years. I’ve had a lot going on and I’m not coping at all at the moment and my GP has suggested a change to Setraline 50mg. Has anyone else done this?
I have got to halve my Citalopram for the next two weeks and then start the Setraline. I’m really anxious about it tbh 😢

Hi I was on 40 mg citalopram for many years.but dr took me off them.put me on 50mg sertraline for 2 weeks then increased to 100mg.i haven't had any side effects.try not to be anxious.be guided by Dr..hope this helps 👍
Hello thankyou for your reply. Oh so you changed directly from 1 to the other. Then dose increased after 2 weeks🤔interest8ng the different ways this is dealt with. I’m so worried about how I am going to be for the next month or so 😔
hello Dawn. I have been in exactly the same position as you. I take Citalopram 20mg and have done for over a decade. I was once given Mirtazapine and I felt like a zombie! I don’t know if I was allergic to it maybe? I’m now back on Citalopram. I googled these meds and Citalopram takes the longest to withdraw from, though is looked at as the mildest with the least side effects. Citalopram works well for me. I initially started it to help with menopausal symptoms, (bad tempered towards my daughter), but I’m quite happy taking it all of the time because I feel ‘normal’ and I’m worried I’d go back to being irritable if I stopped. ( there is an American ‘guru’ woman who has studied menopause for decades and she states we never actually stop going through menopause ). Hope this helps you somewhat. X
Hiya, thankyou for replying. I’m actually on 40mg and have to change to 20mg for two weeks then go on Setraline. I do my dosette box tomorrow so that will be the first day. Im really anxious as that’s two weeks on a lesser dose then onto the Sertraline. Frightening really as you don’t know how you going to feel x
