Citalopram and alcohol

Hi looking for some advice here. I been taking depressants for a week now and it's slowly improving my mood. Still struggling to eat and have lost a noticeable amount of weight. I've got work Christmas drinks tomorrow evening, and id like to have a drink with my collegues. Can I drink when taking citalopram? As the instruction leaflet with the meds is vague as it says "citalopram has not been shown to increase the effects of alcohol". Any help much appreciated, thanks

Yes I understand your feeling you want to share the joy. I am going to a Thanksgiving Dinner today, I am even taking a bottle of wine the kind I like a light white wine. I will allow myself to have 1 glass and make sure I eat. Go on line and see what they say at Google. When I was on Prozac alone my psychiatrist said it was OK for me to have a drink. I am on some other meds now and they say take caution. Hope you enjoy yourself. Happy Thanksgiving enjoy yourself. Perhaps you could have someone drive you home. Sending Love & a Big Hug. Sprinkle 1

May find you feel tired pretty quick after you have a drink. Also alcohol can easily increase anxiety especially the next day.

Hello, thank you I had a lovely Thanksgiving, and I even drank some wine, I ate plenty of absorbing food, spent time talking with new people and came home with a new friend. It was several hours after I drank, drove home quite soberly (1/2 hr) drive in the dark!!! Took care of my cats, and put on PJ's and got in bed and read til after 10 pm. This am, no affects of the wine I even feel happy. I know I need company, and will do my best to search out more. Did your day go as you planned, I hope you had a lovely time with your friends. Glad you lined up an escape route smart GuitarFreak. Keep on doing what your body says, there is an old saying "Listen to your body", it usually wont let you down.I proud of you and I send love and hugs. Sprinkle 1.
