hi all! i'm new here. Found this website while searching for anxiety support group.

I seem to have major anxiety going into the new year. Not exactly sure why .. maybe the doomsday talk on social media, or just the uncertainty that lies ahead. How should I combat this? Does anyone have any fun activities, games, podcasts they like to do when having these feelings?

happy new year to everyone, as well!

If you're ever not sure why you feel anxious, take a guess. Maybe there's someone you don't want to see in 2025, or something you don't want to do?

I'm anxious because of the next presidential administration, but last night, I was thinking about it and realized, there are actually worse things.

Hello there, welcome to the group and Happy New Year. First of all, limit your consumption of news media. I subscribe to one news feed that offers a quick overview of major events and that's it. I do also like to listen to podcasts on history, american scandal, survival skills, etc. I spend time bird watching and honing in on my green thumb skills and hanging with my doggos.. You have listening ears here any time you need them

Hi Cherry Cola. Although dispersing is a good idea, listening and guiding your thoughts is a must. The one thing that you have to accept for the rest of your life is that you will never know what will happen. There are som probabilities. In case there is a doomsday, no one will never know exactly when so worrying about this is futile. All of us with pathologic anxiety would love to know the future so we could prepare but it is not posible. We have to tolerate the uncertain.

thank you! currently in therapy, me and my therapist are discussing just allowing my body to go through the feelings of anxiety. sometimes it's necessary for healing, but very difficult! thank you for the reminder.
