I’m suffering from general anxiety and it has been hard. I have days when I feel sorry for myself. I am ashamed of myself. I have a hard time accepting myself the way things are and I’m just battling this anxiety. I want to accept it but I have no idea why it is so hard. I pick myself up with motivation videos and reading motivational books. I work out or I eat healthier. I feel much better after doing all those things but then after a day or so I starts feeling sad again. I’m new to this anxiety and I have times when I feel like I’m failing. My thoughts come from looking at my future and they are making me scared. I feel scared that I’m going to be alone. I am scared that I wont have control over my thought or life. Has anyone gone through this feeling of shame? Feeling alone?

You have Anxiety, that is anxiety. You just have to remember you have anxiety and you are a anxious person. Its great for being a go getter, workaholic, exerciseaholic, get what I am saying. I used to be a preschool teacher, very intense job, kept my anxiety at bay. I am a homemaker these days, I have idle time, yikes not good for my anxiety. We got a puppy, yes keeps me busy. I clean, cook, shop, take care of my alcoholic spouse on his days off. He chose to be a alcoholic to deal with his anxiety, misunderstood, misdiagnosed and self medicated to the point of becoming a alcoholic, high functioning alcoholic however on days off, yikes. I have been with him over 4 years now, we both are having a better understanding our anxiety. A work in progress, yes a long road. Keeping busy helps keep anxiety at bay. Medications, medicinal marijuana, iddy biddy amounts of alcohol, tv shows can sooth, keep mind occupied, movies, sports etc etc, keep busy. 24 hours in a day. 8 for work, 8 for fun and 8 for sleep. Now we all know, life is not perfect so those 8 are ishes. For sleep, I take a melatonin to help fall asleep. I usually wake up and toss and turn. I could take another melatonin but I don't, why not sure. I just toss and turn and fall back asleep and I am just accepting this is life with anxiety. Keep busy with work, keep busy with fun down time and probably need a sleep aid to sleep and accept this is life with anxiety. You are not alone, you will never be alone, anxiety is real and lots of people have it. Lots of people can't relate, we can't relate to everyone elses issues, think of it that way. Hope I gave you some food for thought.
Suffering from panic and anxiety for 35 years I can tell it will get BETTER. Unfortunately you're usually never cured mine will go away for years in some cases but always seem to creep back. Learn coping techiques use support groups, try alternative medicines and know you are not alone. You are NOT going crazy or dying or sick it is a terrible thing called Anxiety and it is REAL in your head.
Hello, do you have phisical manifestation of anxiety?
I think we all have had thoughts like this from time to time. I am scared I will outlive everyone I am close to. I don’t think I am strong enough to be see everyone I love die. People have lived through horrible things, it makes me think they are stronger than I am.
It sounds like you keep trying with eating healthy and working out. That makes a difference for me as well.
Hi! I have suffered form anxiety and panic attacks for a while so I can tell you from experience all this things that you are feeling are entirely normal. For me what makes my anxiety (and attacks) more manageable is to build a toolbox of things I can do to feel better when anxiety strikes. On youtube I have found guided meditation, I have downloaded the calm app on my phone, and wrote several affirmations that say something like this:
* This is temporary
* this is not fatal just unconfortable
* it will go away
* I am going to be ok.
Hang in there, I would highly recommend to get also medical help with a psychiatrist and a therapist. It has helped me a great deal, you'll be fine remeber this is not something that will last forever.
Remember this: we all have those thoughts. And if we all have those thoughts, those “scary” thoughts are not your thoughts, they are “the mind.” The minds sole purpose is to keep us comfortable, so new situations cause fear and anxiety, and it varies amongst people.
Here are a few tips to help your “spirit” not react to the minds incessant worries:
-stay hydrated
-sleep more
-exercise outside
-drink herbal tea
-check magnesium levels in body
-meditation
-journaling
Best of luck on your journey. Remember to take each day at a time. You will probably have some anxiety again, and that is perfectly fine and normal
