How long until I feel better on Fluoxetine?

hello all!

I had bad anxiety a few years ago and this was health related. With the help of sertraline and CBT I managed to feel a lot better. Last Spring I decided to come of my meds as I felt good. Anyway beginning of September bang anxiety came back with vengeance!! There seems to be no specific reason this time it just manifests in different ways. I get this feeling in the pit of my stomach and panic arises!! I went back on meds but Fluoxetine this time and after 2 weeks felt awful still so was upped to 40mg a week ago. I’m wondering how long people found it was from staring meds that they began to feel a bit better?? I just want to feel not full of worry all the time!! It’s exhausting

Hey sorry you anxiety has come back . Is any reason you changed from sertrline to floxodine ?. Is it possible to change back as not all antidepressants work with everyone. Have you gone back to therapy or getting other support?

I asked to change as I was feeling really strange on the sertraline this time but I am really regretting that now! I am having group CBT and I appreciate this is a long process but I would just like to feel better and be able to live my life again xx

Oh Okay that makes sense. Unfortunately there isn't a quick fix . Take one day at a time . Focusing too far ahead can just add extra pressure and stress . Meds can take a month or 6 weeks to start working and it can be common to feel more anxious for a while until things settle down . Sometime you have to go through different doses and different types of antidepressants to find a good fit. So try not to get too disheartened if you don't get the results you expect straight away . If it caused by an underlying health issues then getting that treated will also help improve you anxiety. I hope things improve for you ❤️

I did the same thing two years ago. I felt good and came off sertraline. A few months later, anxiety came back with vengeance. I got back on sertraline but it was taking forever to work again. I started taking beta blockers as well, as they remove the symptoms of anxiety. Perhaps you could ask your doctor about them. I took them for a couple of months waiting for sertraline to do its magic and it worked.
