9 months ago I tried Setraline, within 3 days I felt and thought Suicidal. So stopped it, been physically and emotionally difficult and anxious since. Tried various over the counter herbal meds, but still suffer with intrusive thoughts and general anxiety.
Was prescribed Fluoxetine 3 months ago, but have not taken them.
As I am scared to try since Setraline set me back.
I'm taking ashwagandha now, 5 days in no real change as of yet.
Have read ashwagandha is as good as SSRI, anyone seen positive results with this? If so how long did it take.
I have just had enough of fighting the anxiety and feeling not me anymore.
I'm desperate to try prozac, but scared of the possible side effects.
This anxiety is ruining my life, want it to stop.
Any help be great.
Thanks

I would check with my doctor about any contraindications with the meds.
My Prozac works great for me. I’m so happy it’s working. But different drugs work differently for different people. It took my psychiatrist about a year to get my meds straight.
I’m glad I hung in there until the miracle happened.
I take ashwagandha to lower cortisol and help me sleep better, in that sense it does help in potentially lowering anxiety. I tried taking the natural route for treating my anxiety and found that it was not helping me enough to make a difference and ended up on medication. Currently I am taking Prisitiq which is an antidepressant and also ashwagandha and have no problems with either so you are more than likely safe to take it with the Fluoxetine.
You might check out Trudy Scott and her book "the anti-anxiety food solution" it has a lot of information about diet and natural supplements for dealing with anxiety and mood.
hi Smudger, I use passiflora for sleeping and general calming, I think you can get it in tablets, but I have it as dried leaves from the herbalist, I’ve also got some to spray on my tongue when I wake up in the night, it came in a yellow box from Boots. Tho best not to use it if you have a driving job.
