I feel stupid about this, but I'm so insecure about my voice. I heard it in a recording and just I sound so babyish and I feel that's why I don't get taken seriously most my life. Ik it's something I can't change or control, but I wish I could 😔 Sorry I just needed to rant and get that off my chest

Here is the place to rant! Whenever I hear my voice recorded I want to vomit😅
Hi ashley, try looking at it this way. You have the ability to improve your voice, not change it (unless you have a physical problem) via speech therapy, voice coach, elocution lessons. Lots of stuff free on YouTube. At least people can understand what you’re saying, unfortunately many people don’t have that choice.
I sound like a girl when I talk. Don't care. Unless I am calling for help at work then I want to be understood. So I get the help I need. Just keep doing you
Is a woman calling loudly typically harder to hear than a man? Just wondering, because people have said it's hard to hear me when I talk.
I have a child like voice especially when I'm excited. I also sound like my mom which used to come in handy when calling into school saying I wouldn't be there.
There are things you can do to improve your speech. Like taking classes to speak with a more affirm tone and presentation as well like your posture.
I remember there were classes once being offered to women to learn how to talk in a lower register or to talk in "voice fry". It was seen as very controversial. Because it was basically saying in order to be taken seriously, you have to sound like a man.
Eddie Murphy he learned to laugh differently because he became self conscious about his iconic laugh. So he changed it which he said was very hard to do because laughing is a natural thing. But now he laughs at a lower tone and keeps with the typical "haha".
Personally you shouldn't change who you are. Your voice is your voice. It's unique. Btw a lot of people hate their voice because it doesn't match what they perceive of themselves. There's actually a name for it...voice confrontation.
Unfortunately for me my voice level increases depends on what I'm dealing with.
Yeah I get that. If I'm excited..I'm a kid. If I'm mad, I'm a kid. However crying makes my voice go low gets kind of raspy. I don't know why that is. Then there's my sick voice which I sound like a little old lady
I too feel like this sometimes, it's like you say something and think you're loud enough only for people to call you out to repeat what you've just said but from Xene reply, I think it'd be best if we check out free stuff on YouTube to help us improve our vocals, however, we shouldn't feel less just because we don't find out voices sound like those we'd like to talk like, it's our voice! and it makes us unique in every way 😀
I hate my voice on tape so much that it's almost physically painful for me to listen to.
