hello all. Not sure if anyone can see my post from last year but long story short my husband had his first manic episode in April of 2023 requiring me to 302 him. The worst possible experience of my life. He has since been much better and stabilized on medications and our life has been pretty joyous. We just started trying to have kids and were oh so happy. He had a stomach bug a few weeks ago and since then his mania has come back. My normal fun loving sweet sensitive husband has turned into a monster. He became very secretive with ideas that “no one can know about”, was buying thousands of dollars worth of online purchases, was calling me names and telling me if I touched him he would hit me. He has never EVER touched me. He stopped sleeping and taking care of himself and was smoking and ingesting a ton of weed/alcohol. It got to the point that I was concerned I was going to find him dead. I called a crisis hotline and he went into a psych facility last Wednesday. It’s now Monday morning and I haven’t heard from him until this morning. He told me he doesn’t agree he needs help and that he’s going to sign himself out. I’m so heartbroken On what to do. I love him so much but he doesn’t trust me. He’s also still not in his right mind. Idk who this person is but it’s not my husband. Has anybody ever experienced a family member in mania? He came back to his senses last time. I fear I’m not going to get him back this time. I brought him to the help he needs but I can’t force him to take it. Any words of advice are appreciated. Thanks for listening

Please focus on self care right now. You have done everything you can for him. Now it is time to take care of you. Do you have family or a friend that you could go and stay with? Have you ever had a therapist for yourself? Can you call the crisis hotline you called again asking for support for yourself instead of just for him? You are the one who needs help right now.
