I need help!
Hi Bluesky85,Thank you for your post.
Sleep problems are really common in most mental health conditions.
Most sleep issues can be overcome by implementing better "sleep hygiene". If you Google the term, you will find lots of hints & tips. Many books have been written too. Changes take time to work so you will have to be patient here, 14 days or so.
Medication 💊 can be trial and error on the part of your doctor. Being honest & up front about side effects means that you are working in partnership with your treatment provider.
If it seems that after a trial of 2-3 meds (at adequate dose over reasonable time) you are still feeling no better, it could be time to ask for a specialist medication review with a psychiatrist.
You don't need to worry about a meds review with psychiatrists. They are doctors who specialise in mental treatment and are usually patient friendly.
Wishing you well, 🐈⬛
Hi bluesky85!
Unfortunately, for those who suffer with mental health issues/ disorders, medications are all trial and error to see what effects they have. Im currently on a third medication my dr and i are trying to help my adhd and a new medication for depression. I understand it is hard and frustrating!
Do you see a psychiatrist and/or a therapist? If not I would advise asking your primary doctor to refer you to one. They would be able to give a more formal diagnosis and can help with medication management depending on what affects you tell them you experience with current/ previous meds!
Have a lovely day! <3
Hi bluesky85,
I'm sorry you're having a difficult time. I hope you feel much better soon. I've had anxiety and depression over the years and took 50 mg Zoloft for way too many years. What helped was a long stable relationship with my psychiatrist and I was working at a nice company for many if those years. I'm retired and have had problems sleeping. I'm currently taking 10 mg doxepin at night and half a Unisom (doxylamine succinate). I also take Calm magnesium 325 mg and 3 mg melatonin. I hope you find a way to sleep better. That's very important. All my best wishes, katyee8
I'm sorry you're having a hard time. How long have you been on Zoloft and what's the dosage? I've been on it for years but I take it for Anxiety mostly. Some people like to take it at night because for some it can help you sleep. What other meds are you on for Bi-polar?
I took Zoloft 25 mg for ADHD and bipolar type 2 at night for almost a month already. At first, when I first took it mine body act like a sloth,so I asked the nurse if I can take it at night because I told them I don't want to feel like that. They are okay that I can take it at night but over time,I start having these espisode of bipolar,ex.overthinking, heart racing faster, can't sleep at early time, sometimes wake up in middle of night. No matter how hard I tried coping skill, breathing 4-7-8,progressive muscle relaxation, and grounding techniques I failed to do so.
please make sure you check at every fill up of the Zoloft that’s from the same company! Pharmacy changes pharmaceutical companies often and with that change of the brand it’s like you starting the medication from the beginning. Be healthy.
