When I was a child I developed agoraphobia and anxiety. It. got better but now in my late 60s it has returned along with a fear of driving limiting my life. I am seeing a therapist and anxiety and took a driving lesson last week. I am very upset and it has resulted in losing friends.

I’m new here but certainly am not new to mental illness. I too suffer from agoraphobia (along with other disorders) which has lead to an extremely lonely existence. I looked into chat rooms hoping to meet some friends so I don’t feel so alone. If you ever want to talk I’m normally ALWAYS home.
Hi Poet! Having intense stress when leaving the house has led me to lose friends. If you’re comfortable messaging me I’ll be around. Hope you’re having a good day.
Hello and Welcome. You are not alone. I have trouble leaving the house and driving. I have found it very helpful connecting with someone else on this site who shares the same struggles.
poetinthegarden, TSSS, Downhill, gajh - all of you are me and what you are describing. This wasn't always the case but I'm here now. I'm sad. I'm anxious. I'm lonely. I'm fearful. My therapist talks about The "I won't" vs the "I can't.". Either way, I am stuck
I am sorry! It takes a lot of courage to do things that are very hard and scary. Some friends decide to not be there for us. But, in reality, we all should always try to make new friends all our lives. Don't give up! Encourage yourself. Congratulate yourself. Love yourself and try to recognize always that you are brave and valuable. I feel like a mess sometimes. It's painful to have problems. We all should offer compassion and help to others and also seek help for ourselves. Each one of us is worth it. Each one of us is very valuable. We should not give up. May God be with us!
